I've been sent to work in Cornwall a few times recently. So I've been hearing quite a bit about the Beast of Bodmin. We have something similar in Somerset: the Exmoor Beast. They are reputedly panthers or some other species of wild cat that roam the countryside attacking sheep. There's been some debate other the past few years as to whether or not these creatures actually exist. :-S

There may be some truth in those legends & myths:

Yeah; very often mythological tales have a moral to them. A bit like fairy tales. :-)

Someone I know said 'Myths are lies that tell a greater truth'.

Favourite characters have to be the Muses :-)

Do you think any myths or legends might be based on true stories? Might some myths & legends started off as true stories that have since been distorted by 'chinese whispers'?

Father Christmas might not be real; but what about Saint Nicholas?
Was Robin Hood based upon a real person? Or maybe there were a number of people whose stories got merged together.

Who is your favourite mythological or legendary character?

What is the most unbelievable myth you have ever heard?
