So, the people have spoken, but will the politicians listen?

I always vote. Someone has to be in charge and I want my say in it even if my choice rarely gets in :-)

Maybe its a wake up call for all parties and time to listen to the voters who are fed up of being ignored

We definitely need another box to tick - none of the above - to show what we (the voters) really think,

Well in spite of UKIP success at these elections they gained less seats that Labour did, they won fewer seats than the Lib Dems and they don't control any councils.

At present their support is spread relatively uniformly across the country without strong support in particular areas which they need to gain seats in the General Election.

Give the long-suffering UK citizens a break.

We don't need a NEW political party - get rid of all political parties, reduce the number of MPs by half and only elect Independents.

A lot of people don't vote, because they think it won't make any difference.

I think the country needs a new political party ( but not necessarily UKIP). The Tories and Labour are too much alike.
I think immigration is not the only problem with Europe. It's becoming more & more like a United States of Europe. And it costs us a fortune. How many different levels of government do we need?
Incidently, my opening post asked about the nations opinion; not about foreign nations ;-)

As to what does this say about the nations of Europe?

Nothing but it says little about this country either really.................they need to prove themselves to be less talk and more positive action first.

With apologies for the use of a great poem to mark a sad day I think if UKIP have done as well as expected. I personally mourn for the loss of good sense in this country. I truly believe small steps like this , if repeated, will bring this country to its knees ( and 'no' it isn't there yet...there's still time) and we will see the same rise of the far right as other countries are seeing that will, inevitably ( do we never learn?) lead to tragedy.

I would never vote for them either Ann................maybe people voted for them as our current leaders are so wishy washy and weak :-(

Personally, I think that any party that insults other nationalities by lumping them all as coming over here and stealing our jobs needs a swift kick up the bum....we are a multicultural society and need to work together to make this country strong again.

The results from yesterdays EU elections will be announced on Sunday. Early indications are that UKIP are set to come out top; apart from London (where they might come in third). Pro-Europe Lib-Dems look set to come in fifth behind the Green Party.
What does this say about the nations opinion of Europe?
