Once when I had long hair somebody in the picture theatre threw a piece of gum and it landed on my hair at the back. I was NOT amused. :-|

Reminiscent of Emmin's 'bedroom'. We can all do it - but most of us have the decency not to!!

I could not understand this .................................

a well-known writer, artist and sculptor in Canada has got a new installation going in, in the centre of downtown Vancouver, right outside the Art Gallery.

It is a very large sculpting of his head ..................... and the intent is for people to stick their used chewing gum on it

I have to admit to swallowing chewing gum if there's no place to dispose of it discreetly (despite what people have said, it doesn't take 7 years to pass OR wrap itself around your heart). Hate to see it clagged on the pavement.

Like maggiewinchester says, fag ends have to be disposed of sympathetically. I've got a tiny foldable ashtray from the poundshop that mine go in if there isn't a suitable receptacle. I hate to see fag ends lying on the pavement, especially around pub doorways since the smoking ban.

A boss I once had realised I was interested in lichen and other primitive plants. One day, he asked me if I knew what the 'stuff' could, that he had noticed 'growing' on the ground around Bedford Place in Southampton (an area -at the time- with quite a few night clubs). I asked if it looked like the 'stuff' growing near a bin outside work.
'Yes' he replied, 'But there's much more in Bedford Place'.

.....It was very difficult explaining that it was chewing gum :-)

Have to admit to having a piece after a ciggie at work. BUT I put my fag end down a drain, and my chewing gum in a bit of tissue and throw it in the bin when I get back to the office. I have no intention of leaving my DNA around for anyone to pick up!!
I also hate chewing-gum 'gobbers'.

A few years ago Maidstone introduced special boards for people to place used gum.
I thought they looked awful, but they did raise awareness of the problem of disposal.
Not sure if they kept the idea....?
