Shirley it will be hard work for you but he sounds like a lovely lad. It is nice he likes coming to your house. Children with Autism do like routine. Our youngest is 26 years old and has Autism. She does not like the washing machine, vacuum and lots of other sounds so I find myself running around doing household jobs before she gets home which is difficult at times. We have 7 grandchildren the oldest 10 years old and they love coming to us to stay. Our daughter does not like that either because it messes up her routine and they are noisy for her. So it will be fun this week in our house when they are off school. Have a lovely time with him.xx

You're not imagining it, Shirley. Easter was later this year,
so the first half of the summer term was only five weeks
minus one day! I think though after this week off it's a
seven-and-a-half week stretch.

Not really complaining but doesn't the school hollies come round quick

You blink and they are on holiday again. Seem to remember when i was at school we were at school FOREVER lol

Step grandson will be here tomorrow for two days .then he goes to his mum for a day and then at home with our daughter for friday

Love him to bits but he is a handful having learning difficulties and being on the autistic spectrum . he is 14 next month but looks about 7 which is also his mental age . he can have the most spectacular tantrums and needs one on one attention all the time . Now at 14 although tests show he isnt going in to puberty he does more and more have tantrums and sadly Tourettes type outbursts with swearing .
When he does calm down he will say sorry and I love you which breaks your heart

I took him with me to the vet a few weeks ago on his last holiday for the cats daily visit . he sat in the waiting room and heard some animals in the vets consulting room protesting . he didnt like that . when we went in he said to the vet DONT hurt Mirabelle cos I love her. After her meds had been given he said thank you for looking after her . Bless him

Its very sad to think he wont be able to ever live independently

Our daughter works full time and copes with all his problems , BUt his natural mother throws lots at her too which she finds very hard to deal with

its more complicated than I have posted but at the end of the day he needs structure and a routine . He told daughter he likes to go to nanny and grandad cos we take him out to the cafe . we will take him out to lunch on Tuesday to a local pub /restaurant cos he liked that too the last time he was here

A few hard days ahead though for us !!
