Merlin Report 28 May 2014 14:18

I wonder who it was reported the wedding to the press? also how much they were paid for doing it,As has been said she should(in my opinion) have served longer but the person who sold this to the press causing more stress to the childrens parents should also be censored for doing so. Thus wasting all that money giving her a new identity.

Dermot

Dermot Report 28 May 2014 17:09

Has she served her prison term as outlined by the Judge? Just checking.

If she has, regrettably that's the end of the matter. It's not nice to advocate a jail sentence for anybody, but it is vital that justice is administered in some form, evenly & fairly for all.

It is not lawful to tag-on further punishments or limitations in her current lifestyle, no matter what we personally think. ‘Lynch law’ or mob rule are ugly.

Silly Sausage

Silly Sausage Report 28 May 2014 20:09

I too have no time for the lynch mob or hang them high brigade however I 100% agree with Sue and others about common decency , she told bare face lies to the police it just wasn't about a bit of knock off she lied to protect her boyfriend knowing that 2 young children were missing, do you think for 1 min the feelings of those little girls parents even entered her head, what makes me almost vomit is she knew Holly and Jessica and still she lied for Huntley. she is vile. Like Myra Hindley she only changed her mind when advised by her legal people granted she didn't wait 20 yrs like Hindley did. Live a happy life phhhfffff I don't know how she sleeps at night.

VIVinHERTS Report 29 May 2014 15:29

This kind of report just drags it all up again for the parents of Holly and Jessica, their peers that they went to school with and the community of Soham as a whole.
Huntley will never be free, Carr has been given a chance to start a new life and the media now need to leave the story alone.

eRRolSheep Report 29 May 2014 18:13

You're all talking about it though, aren't you?

She should be able to get on with her life and enjoy it.
She did not commit the actual crime and the British justice system is, all said, pretty darned good.
If a person has served time for a crime - whether it be failing to pay for a TV license or committing armed robbery - they should be allowed back into a society which is both sufficiently mature and open minded to let them integrate and contribute once more.

AnnCardiff

AnnCardiff Report 29 May 2014 18:40

Jessica and Holly should be still getting on with their lives

eRRolSheep

eRRolSheep Report 29 May 2014 18:44

Nobody would disagree with that but does that mean that Maxine Carr cannot get on with her life?

AnnCardiff

AnnCardiff Report 29 May 2014 19:44

as far as I'm concerned, yes

supercrutch

supercrutch Report 29 May 2014 20:51

She was complicit in aiding a child killer, I assume Errol you believe she should have a clear conscience as she served a very short sentence.

My point is that the woman should have the common decency to live her life quietly. I'm not sure why she didn't opt for a quiet wedding, but hey you think her crime is on a par with someone who evades paying for a TV license. Damn I'm glad I don't share your sense of right and wrong.

AnnCardiff

AnnCardiff Report 29 May 2014 21:25

couldn't agree more Sue - well said

eRRolSheep

eRRolSheep Report 30 May 2014 10:26

supercrutch - that is not what I said at all !
I would respectfully ask you to remove your accusation.

Could somebody please highlight where I said that evading paying for a TV license is on a par with the crime committed by Maxine Carr?

As far as I was aware, she WAS leading her life quietly.

It is others who are banging on about it !

Graham

Graham Report 30 May 2014 10:35

It's not as if she married in St Paul's Cathedral and invited the BBC to broadcast the ceremony live across the globe.

lol Graham - precisely.

That really made me laugh.

ஐ+*¨^¨*+e+*¨^¨*+ஐ Mildred Honkinbottom Report 30 May 2014 11:02

Personally I think shes a bit thick & needy hence her giving her boyfriend an alibi. She may have known what he had done, but then he may have told her he wasn't responsible & she believed him if he said he'd been put in the frame as he knew the girls.

No one would like to believe someone they love could be capable of murder. and after all he fooled the media for some time too.

People forget she didn't murder those poor girls, he did. She's done her time as short as it was for providing a false alibi. Yes she's now got a false name but she is free to do as she wishes in the eyes of the law.I don't support her actions one bit, but as said she wouldn't be the first person nor the last to be taken in by a partners lies, no matter what they did.

The media bringing all this up will only hurt the girls families, which isnt fair.

eRRolSheep

eRRolSheep Report 30 May 2014 11:26

I agree totally with Mildred

DazedConfused

DazedConfused Report 30 May 2014 11:50

If anyone has ever watched the programme about Ian Huntley, you would know that he was a violent abuser of not only Maxine Carr but his previous partner.

Yes, she gave him an alibi, but was probably terrified of him.

I really think this vile thread has gone on long enough.

My feeling is that many of those who have posted on here would be sitting at the base of the guillotine knitting.....

supercrutch

supercrutch Report 30 May 2014 11:59

Vile thread? Grief!!!!

My point Errol is that there is one huge difference between how an offender who deprives the BBC of a couple of hundred quid feels within their heart about their crime and one who perverts the course of justice in a double murder investigation.

You knew that though!

Sharron

Sharron Report 30 May 2014 12:05

Nobody beyond her family and friends would have known about this wedding if the newspapers had not, without feeling for the families of the murdered girls, chosen to publish the details.

The only concern of newspapers is to make profit and to this end they will exploit anybody they can, just as they have so frequently exploited the mother of James Bulger. She, poor woman, is in no position to give judgement on the judicial system any more than is any other victim of any other crime.

The McCann family have chosen to keep their own counsel and see how vilified they have been by the press.

eRRolSheep Report 30 May 2014 12:10

"but hey you think her crime is on a par with someone who evades paying for a TV license. Damn I'm glad I don't share your sense of right and wrong."

That is what you said.

I said nothing of the sort!

I have to agree with DazedConfused about the guillotine.

The only reason this "story" hit the news is because of the likes of some people who seem to revel in it whilst sharpening their knives.

supercrutch

supercrutch Report 30 May 2014 12:46

If it wasn't so tragic that remark would be funny.

BTW McCanns didn't keep their own counsel, KM published a work of fiction and had it serialised in the gutter press. They also make good use of judicial leaks when it suits them. That however is a subject which you do not want to get me started on because I am going out shortly

:-D
