UKIP Policy - Energy Supply

Wait till UKIP get hold of the Curriculum. Michael Gove (who he?) will fade into insignificance as a sort of benign grandee of the past. That Nuttall will nut all (geddit?) members of the NUT on his first day in charge and get anything lefty or educashunul banned from syllabus.

6-6 day, military training in afternoons (preparation for only jobs that will be created under UKIP). Sounds good to me. ;-)

Lol - the teachers may not feel they are over or well paid :-D

The science teacher in question was teaching from the book. Every source of energy was included.......by not nuclear. To be fair, once I'd asked why he hadn't at least mentioned it, nuclear energy did get a brief acknowledgement later in the lesson.

Even if the powers that be decided to invest in building new nuclear power stations, the expertise would have to come from abroad. All those involved in the original programme have either retired or are about to. As usual, no thought has been given to training replacement engineers.

HS2, Graham? I think Nigel Farage may believe it is a planned wave energy reclamation scheme. High Seas 2, a follow up to the Severn Barrage.

DET. It must be very difficult for teachers to teach dispassionately about energy policy. They often have strong opinions, and earn so much money that cheap energy is really not very important to their lives.

Thanks, Emma. Just a temporary return. Just long enough to upset every teacher and every UKIP supporter :-D ;-)

Forgive me for being thick; but what has HS2 got to do with energy supply?

With an OH who has worked in both the petrochemical and nuclear industry, we are more concerned about the side effects of fracking ie minor earth tremors which will cause damage to property, and pollution of our water supplies.

Although wind farms can seem unsightly in the more attractive areas of the UK, they can supplement other forms of energy production. Another less publicised source is harvesting the methane produced by rubbish dumps, even those which have been 'capped'.

About 10 years ago the NC in schools totally ignored nuclear energy. Now it's being considered again!

I'm with you. I don't want a UKIP candidate in my garden, Shirley

Fracking has been tried here in Somerset quite a while ago. It wasn't finacially viable at the time. But maybe somebody has found a way to do it better.. :-S

I am completely lost I have to admit

so much so we didnt vote last week .

not sure on fracking gas but am very wary of anything nuclear.

we did get the collywobbles many moons ago on an expansion of the runways that would affect the dunes over the river medway and the bird population that flock to the area to breed. My worry was for the planes and the passengers if a birds got caught in the engines AND too for the birds who were doing there own thing in a breeding ground they had selected .

Feel without further info I am still sitting on the back garden fence, Sounds a bit like not in my garden type of response

" it backs the expansion of shale gas extraction, or fracking, and a mass programme of nuclear power stations."

Hello John, nice to see you posting again :-D

"Scrap HS2, all green taxes and wind turbine subsidies.
Develop shale gas to reduce energy bills and free us from dependence on foreign oil and gas - place the tax revenues into a British Sovereign Wealth Fund."

GHeathers defence of UKIP policy on immigration and Europe has led me to look at policy in other importnat areas. Are these policies attractive?

To me, HS2 in absolutely essential as quickly as possible to encourage growth in the north. And I like the idea of fracking for gas, and hate wind turbines. How do they stand on developing nuclear energy, I wonder?
