Sounds better than sending in the environment agency John ;-)

So policy is to smash foreign aid budget and spend more on military things.

How comforting it must be after a tsunami, or a fatal epidemic, or a drought, or a flood to know - when you are on your last legs and your hope of life hangs by a thread - a UK government led by UKIP will come sailing in (sic) with a whole load of bullets and khaki uniforms.

And a fine display of marching in the stricken villages will raise spirits.

I knew there had to be some sailors around here somewhere! :-)

Dont ask me why but I think we should spend more on defence....Oh, ok then.....I will say why......One day, maybe, some country will decide to invade or whatever.....They will have the audacity to do this because we will have no defence......Then what shall we do?......simple as that really

I am a Navy person myself, so I say we need more ships :-D

Thanks for restoring the op GR, I can now delete it myself rather than bore anyone
with something as irrelevant as politics ;-)

Had anyone wished me to remove this thread if they just couldn't bear another 'UKIP' thread they could just have asked?

I just thought it was mildly interesting that "The party opposes intervention in Syria and elsewhere but still wants to increase the defence budget by £17.4bn to £50bn." 70 new ships and 3 aircraft carriers.

Hardly a controversial post, even if it is a controversial, not to say contradictory, policy .
:-) I guess there are just no sailors on here

This was a thread about UKIP's strange defence policy. Appeared to me to be a massive increase in expenditure for less than we do today. So reduction in foreign aid combined with a much much bigger increase in defence spending.

Well, I guess that is what all voters want :-(

Another rr on way :-D

Sirius Report 31 May 2014 18:30

By the way for info I was quoting UKIPs own website and the BBC site. so not making anything up :-D

Sirius

Sirius Report 31 May 2014 18:29

wow someone is obviously fed up with threads on UKIP, or me, or both :-)

Graham

Graham Report 31 May 2014 18:24

They need to increase the defence budget to keep out all those bloody foreigners ;-)

:-D :-D :-D

Wow!! At 68, I may be able to get my lanyards and medals out of drawer. And locate my blanco and pull-through. :-D

Defence spending would rise by 40%, with the navy getting more than 70 new ships, including three aircraft carriers.

BUT

"The party opposes intervention in Syria and elsewhere but still wants to increase the defence budget by £17.4bn to £50bn."
