Thank you all,
If I send you a message Graham, would you be kind enough to completly ignore me please? ;-)
If you can post that it has appeared on here I will delete it and we can see what happens :-D

My understanding is that if you delete an individual message it is removed from your folder permanently, but not from the sender / recipients folder. A bit like an email, really.

However if you delete a contact then your messages with them are simply hidden from view, not deleted and will re-appear if you decide to re-establish contact at a future date.

A way to find out would be to send somebody a message that you know is actively on this site and tell them not to open it. Then try deleting the message and see what happens. ;-)

Mayfield I could be wrong and someone will hopefully clarify this but you can still delete your messages and if there is any reply from them at a later date you can go back into your contact list and find all messages in there... :-)

Does anyone know please what happens if you delete a sent message from your box that has not been opened?

I am wondering as like I expect many others have, I've got a number of messages I have sent to enquire about trees that are never opened. I assume because the owner has given up or indeed may have passed on.

I tend to leave them there "just in case" but if I delete them and at a later date somebody does contact me I may well have forgotten who I contacted and may wonder if the reply is genuine.

It's no big deal but as I say I wonder if deleting an unopened message clears it completly from the system or not.

Thank you for any help.

Mayfield.
