SOUTH AFRICA SPRINGBOKS v WORLD XV:
SPRINGBOKS 47 -- WORLD XV 13
The Mighty South Africa Springboks have given Wales a preview of what they are about to face, on the next two Saturdays of their South African Tour, when they beat the WORLD XV today.
The World XV is a Star-Studded team made up of International and Top Players from around the world.
Countries from which the team were chosen were South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, France, England, Ireland, Samoa, Tonga and Georgia.
Players included in this team were the Captain- Australia's Matt Giteau, and New Zealanders- Drew Mitchell, Rene Ranger, Hosea Gear and Andrew Hore. Also in this team were South African Wyand Olivier and France's Francois Trinh-Duc.
South Africa saw the return of Victor Matfield as Captain after a 3 year absence. There were 10 World Cup Players in the South African Side,
STARTING LINE UPS:
South Africa: 15 Le Roux; 14 Hendricks, 13 Pietersen, 12 F Steyn, 11 Habana; 10 M Steyn, 9 Pienaar; 1 Mtawarira, 2 B du Plessis, 3 J du Plessis; 4 Botha, 5 Matfield (capt); 6 Louw, 7 Alberts; 8 Vermeulen
Replacements: 16 Brits, 17 Steenkamp, 18 Oosthuizen, 19 Van der Merwe, 20 Burger, 21 Du Preez, 22 Goosen, 23 Mvovo
World XV: 15 O'Connor; 14 Mitchell, 13 Ranger, 12 Olivier, 11 Gear; 10 Giteau (capt), 9 Kockott; 1 Taumalolo, 2 Burden, 3 Hayman; 4 Kruger, 5 Hargreaves; 6 Gorgodze, 7 Armitage; 8 Wilson
Replacements: 16 Hore, 17 Ferreira, 18 Cilliers, 19 Tekori, 20 Lapandry, 21 Cowan, 22 Trinh-Duc, 23 Stanley
MATCH: This was a very entertaining game of rugby. The first half was very competitive, with The World XV dominating territory, quality ball and platform. However in the second half, The World XV seemed to lose pace and the Springboks used that to their advantage to become worthy winners of this game.
Two players were Yellow Carded during this match-
First, World XV's Gorgodze was sent to the Sin Bin for being Off Side at Line Out. Then near the end of the match Jimmy Cowan, also World XV, also had a yellow card. This time it was because he had been seen by the TMO stamping on Vermeulen's hand in the scrum.
As usual, decisions (or probably INDECISIONS would be the better word :-D) went to the TMO Ref. One instance was over a possible TRY by Vermeulen. A "NO TRY" decision was given however, as there were too many hands seen under the ball. The ball was, in fact, held up by Andrew Hore.
POINTS BREAKDOWN:
SOUTH AFRICA -- 47 Tries- Habana; Botha; Bismarck du Plessis (2); Goosen; Le Roux ..... 30points Conversions- Morne Steyn (2); Johan Goosen (2)......8points Penalties- Steyn (30..... 9 points
WORLD XV -- 13 Tries- Hargreaves ... 5points Conversions- O'Connor ... 2 points Penalties O'Connor (2) ... 6points
Congratulations to South Africa, RolloTheRed and any GR Springboks fans :-) Commiserations to World XV

AND IT'S A DOUBLE WIN FOR AUSTRALIA...
A horse called AUSTRALIA won the EPSOM DERBY :-D :-D :-D
|
AUSTRALIA V FRANCE:
If the singing of the Anthems determines the outcome of the game, then inevitably Australia would win!
...and of course THEY DID!
AUSTRALIA 50 --- FRANCE 23
STARTING LINE UPS:
AUSTRALIA: 15 Israel Folau, 14 Adam Ashley-Cooper, 13 Tevita Kuridrani, 12 Matt Toomua, 11 Nick Cummins, 10 Bernard Foley, 9 Nic White, 8 Wycliff Palu, 7 Michael Hooper, 6 Scott Fardy, 5 Sam Carter, 4 Rob Simmons, 3 Sekope Kepu, 2 Stephen Moore (c), 1 James Slipper.

MATCH: Australian Wallabies' Bernard Foley kicks off the game, and after 5 minutes the teams are equal, both sides having scored a penalty 3 points.
Just 5 minutes into the game, Australia's new Captain, Stephen Moore, sustains an injury and has to be replaced. He has sustained a suspected ligament strain, and if this is the case, he will be forced onto the side lines for the next 4 to 5 weeks.
Australia proved to be the dominant team throughout the majority of the game. However France rallied in the later part of the second half, but too little too late.
One France Supporter, excited by France getting a Try, lifted her Shirt to reveal her bra! :-0 :-0 :-D :-D
There were a few controversial decisions- A "No Try" decision for an Ashley-Cooper (Wallabies) possible try, as both the Referee and TMO Referee decided, that there was no evidence of grounding. Also in the same incident, a question of France's Michalak being off-side in his tackle arose. However, both the Referee and the TMO Ref decided, that he had done enough to get back on side, so no Penalty Try was awarded to the Australians.
Another incident happened just before the end of the game- Penalty Try awarded to France by the Referee for a Messy Scrum by Australia, followed by France Conversion.
POINTS BREAKDOWN:
AUSTRALIA -- 50
