Last Tuesday we went looking for bird tables and saw a couple we liked. One at one G centre and one at another. so, rain forecast today it was a good chance to go out and get one of them as we didn't want to get caught in town in a thunder storm and couldn't do any more in the garden.

We had really heavy rain on the way, went to the first garden centre, had coffee looked at a bird table, decided against that one so drove to the second G centre about 5 miles down the road. Found the bird table we wanted, loaded it into the car (still raining) car refused to start. (We have had a problem with it not starting and management light coming on a couple of times on holiday but it cleared itself and has been fine ever since. As it was intermittent it was difficult to explain to a garage. Called out breakdown, went into their cafe and had a snack lunch (now 12 o'clock. Breakdown promised within one hour. An hour later truck arrives. Car starts first time!!!! But the management light had not gone out so he could hook it up to his machine and tell us what the problem was. something to do with a sensor and something not always seeing it. by then the sun was shining and has been shining since. And we drove home with no problem at all. However, now we have both cars to get to the garage this next weeki, mine for MOT and his to get his sensor sorted. Don't you just love cars?? :-) :-)

Oh yes!
I usually wait till the tank is almost empty before filling up, getting fuel is just one of those chores I hate! I always get stuck behing the person who decides to have a good look around the shop then gets back in thier car and sits there for ages (what are they doing? no perhaps i don't want t know :-0) before driving off at thier leisure!

I forgot to drop in the garage on the way out and the little readout that says how far you can go went off on the way back. I pulled into the garage on fumes alone and found the central locking for the filler cap had failed so the flap would not open!
After taking the boot apart I ended up using brute force and ignorance to open the flap in the end!

Mayfield, leaving your tank until it is almost empty is not a good thing to do.

What happens is that any 'residue' which sits on the bottom of the tank, when the petrol is low gets 'sucked' up and into the engine. This can seriously damage your engine.

:-D

that is why replacing the fuel filter is a MUST as is changing the oil filter regularly..........

regarding sensors.......I had a problem with my Picasso......a fault light came on,
as I started the car in my garage prior to reversing out.. and the guy that re-set it said that a faulty battery can cause problems of that nature, nothing to do with the actual sensor!!

Well if you ever have to change the fuel flap solenoid on a Renault Modus you know where to come ;-)

OH always insisted our family filled when only 1/4 petrol left in tank - same as before - can suck up muck and cause problems.
