The daughter of friends of ours is working for that company (not that particular branch), a part-time job while she's at university.

I can't imagine her accepting pizzas as part of her wage....she's in her final year...... going to be an accountant!

It probably goes on quite a lot in the catering/hospitality industry.

Cash in hand + a meal
Live in + deduction from the minimum wage.

Its often the less educated, or recent migrants who get exploited. :-0

That awful boss didn't get away with it.

He had to pay the workers what they were owed, and he copped a big fine.

When I was in Oz just over two years ago,the minimum wage was around 16$ Per hour.,which ,at that time seemed a better deal than the UK...even taking in the exchange rate.
.No idea what it is now,but you always get some employers who try to exploit their workers...just hope they don't get away with it!
