Why does a free one month subscription only last for two weeks?

Hello Linda and welcome to the boards.

Not knowing the answer, but a suggestion

Were you given credits?
If so, have you used them up?

If that was the case, then you'd be asked to purchase more or upgrade to a subscription

If you have run out of credits..........you can always ask for help on the "Find Ancestors" board.

Lots of members willing to help you on there whether you have credits or not. :-)

This is a free site we use to search for births, marriage and deaths from Sept 1837 to about 1965 ish.

Also for any free trial 14 days or 1 month, it is always advisable to cancel at least 3-5 working days before the end of the trial period and ensure that you have ticked the boxes or not ticked the boxes, depending on the site, to say that you do not wish to take out a full subscription.

Many people fall foul of this, and then complain on FB etc., that they have had money stolen from their bank account by such and such a site.

Also, if you are considering buying credits, think about how much you may be spending on these, as it may work out cheaper in the long run to buy subs.

And, before taking out any subs to any site, do check to see what records they have and whether or not they are relevant to your research (another complaint by people about records not on certain sites!). Whilst they all have the pretty much the same basics, Census, BMDs etc., they all have their own individual records which are often not available elsewhere.

Me, I have family in London and Liverpool and as such have found that Ancestry was the best for me.

And finally, FindmyPast, they have recently upgraded this site and as a result many people are now finding this nigh on impossible to use. So if considering FMP, wait a while until all the 'wrinkles' have been ironed out. ;-)
