There seems to be a lot "of experts" about.

This man does not exactly make or DO anything specifically, but when any topic arises he automatically becomes the "expert" and takes over the conversation. Yesterday at my friend's house we were talking aboutl a mutual friends hip operation the "expert" started to tell us what the procedure involves ( he has not had this operation ) At this point my friend introduced her new neighbour who is an orthopaeic surgeon, he politely and so beautifully interjected it left the "expert" speechless ... (for now)

We are still laughing at the look on his face.

The reason I was pmsl (see above) was........

Where I used to work, many years ago, an "arty-farty" man wanted to have an "art show", displaying works done by the employees.

At an office party, this was discussed, and the men I worked with got a bit carried away, went to the shed and spent a happy couple of hours welding together everything scrap they could find, with the intention of displaying it. It was enormous!

Those of us who couldn't weld, or weren't interested, came up with other things...... I got a canvas and a few tubes of paint and made a mess..........

Everything was accepted and put on show.

Deep & meaningful lololol :-D

A telephone engineer tried to charge me for a call out last week because he said the fault was with my telephone, not the connection.
I had watched him disconnect the phone from the socket. so I re connected it & lo & behold, got a dialling tone.
No charge. The fault was with the line !!!

lolol

A "know-it-all" explained to me what a particular "piece" on the wall was all about....... deep & meaningful etc etc etc blah blah blah.......

Then asked if I was familiar with the work...........

Yes.

Really???????

It's mine.

pmsl :-D

A few years after moving here, the council sent electricians to every house to test the electrics.
In my living room, I had a metal 3 arm chandelier type light with leaves that I'd bought from a jumble sale, and sprayed green.
Now, when I buy anything second hand, I check it!
Looked up the light - it had a tendency to electrocute :-0 :-0

Sooo, I rewired it, put electrical tape over all joins (to be sure) and put it up (putting hooks in the joists to hold it up on the chain provided), turned it on, and checked it with an electrical screwdriver. Absolutely no electricity 'leak'.

The electrician glanced up at the light as he came in, then did the rest of the house before ending up in the living room.
He checked checked the light switches - I heard the machine bleep (slight electrical discharge). He looked at the light, breathed in through his teeth, and said 'That'll have to go - bl**dy dangerous those lights'.
'I suggest you check it first' was my response.
Nomatter how he tried, he couldn't make his machine bleep.

'So', I said, are you going to rewire the house?'
'Why' he asked.
'Because', I replied, 'The light switches are obviously leaking more current than this 'dangerous' light. The wiring must be lethal'.

He said nothing, just left.....

That light was up for over 20 years. I managed to break one of the globes last month, whilst decorating.....

Not quite the same, but similar.

When we were having a kitchen refit involving amongst other things changing the fuse box, OH asked for a fuse to be available to run in a spur from the garage.

The electrician was talking down to me big time then the same to OH when I got him on the phone. Boy, did his attitude change as it dawned on him that OH actually could talk the talk! Even the other workman there were having a quiet chuckle (snigger) at the electricians expense. :-D

brilliant!!!

years ago we had a problem with our vacuum cleaner - we got a so called expert to take a look at it and during the course of conversation he announced that the problem was caused by metal fatigue, little knowing that my OH was a metallurgist!!! - big mistake

Just love it when someone who is a Mr Know-it-all. and is spouting off once again giving his "expert" opinion. When a real expert in the subject, oh so politely puts the aforementioned "expert" well and truly in his place.

Absolutely made my day.
