Tony Blair on Iraq

Sue :-D :-D I was thinking more that Blair is an orange peace envoy, and you might be too.

Anyone visiting the Valleys would be amazed at how good our weather is most of the time. Just happens to be raining and dull on day they are visiting. I am a typical Valleys boy - lovely orange perma tan and a six pack and a No 1 haircut :-D ;-)

Excuse me John 'orange face' are you suggesting I have a 'valley' tan'? :-0 :-D

Tony and Cherie Shock. They have bought a house in Mosul. Mr Blair, the UN peace envoy to the middle east said "It is important for us to be at the heart of the action, where we feel our destiny has led us both. We have sold up in thhe Troodos Mountains and Cherie has learned the local Iraqi language and we like the noise and friendliness of life here. And topping up sun tan too"

Fantasy too far, perhaps - even for an Irish dreamer, Dermot :-D :-D ;-)

Could the heading of this thread be altered to 'Tony Blair in Iraq'. That would please me & mine tremendously!

It reminds me of when he was six years old and his class at school took part in the May Day parade.

His mother proudly watched as the parade came down the main street and commented to the people standing near her:-

"Oh, just look at dear little Tony, he is the only one in his class marching in step.....!"

Was just going to write same thing, Sue - you orange faced peace envoy, you. What is so terrible is that we seemed scared of US in those days. Blair would not break wind without asking George first, and George would have to ask his dad.

I think most feel Bush took on Iraq with all the might of US military (must have been like visions of hell in Baghdad) to curry favour with his dad, and the only person who could have stopped it was Blair. He could have had a brotherly chat and calmed George down. But instead Blair (pronounce Blur) found Adrian Mole's school book and waved it round in Commons as proof of WMD.

There appear to be 3 major alleged war criminals here who - despite never apologising - are no longer in power and need to be brought to trial following some sort of agreement between Cameron and Obama. George HW in now 90, but if he is well enough to do a a parachute jump, they can hardly say he is not well enough to attend a war trial. These three need to be arrested, face prosecution and thorough investigation NOW, not in 10 years when their reputations for future generations in USA, UK and all over world, will have been damaged for rest of history.

His face was on the news when I switched on today. I could still cheerfully slap it!

Of course the 2003 invasion had no bearing on today's troubles in Iraq ;-) and I am a peace envoy for the Valleys :-D

George W was trying to 'finish' what George H.W. didn't manage to do (and never would have). Good old Tony jumped in with both feet and waged a war based on either bad intelligence or downright lies (depending on how strongly you feel).

Tribal differences will not and have never have been settled by internal conflicts let alone external interference and he wants to stick his interfering beak in every region at war because the balance of power cannot be agreed upon!

I wish he would just go away and sink into oblivion, but he wont of course. He's performed really well in Palestine hasn't he? NOT!!!!!!

Why did Bob Dylans "Masters of War" come to mind as I watched the interview I wonder?

Dermot. The eloquence of a spawning frog :-D :-D And another politician seems to have looks of a spawning frog. At least only one of them is standing for Prime Minister of UK (I sincerely hope).

Dermot - at least the speaking clock has a purpose :-D

Looks like Andrew Marr is struggling for guests this morning. ACLB is probably promoting a book or a lecture tour.

His first names are very significant. Lynton after the Devon flood disaster a few months earlier. Charles after another disaster in November 1948 and still fresh in his mother's memory as she looked at her little baby.

And Anthony was a family name. His mother was related to a famous novelist. She was a Burgess.

Apart from members of The National Association of Insomniacs, plus myself & JJ - who else on earth could listen to a man with as much charisma as the speaking clock & the eloquence of a spawning frog?

His family would probably disagree with me.
