Secret preparations are underway to cook a record-breaking one ton haggis.

The offal-y big pud will weigh more than 2,000 average sized haggis and trounce the previous three foot wide record holder.

The colossal culinary creation, which will take pride of place at this week’s Royal Highland Show, is being prepared by butchers at Hall’s in North Berwick, East Lothian.

It is so big a bespoke truck will be used to transport it to Edinburgh’s Ingliston Showground on Thursday.

Wayne Godfrey, CEO of Browns Food Group, which own Hall’s, said: “Hall’s is a Scottish company so we naturally want to do Scotland proud. What better way to do that than by cooking the biggest haggis the world has ever seen!”

The delicacy needs a special mixer and will require enough meat and spices to feed a family of four for a year.

Mauchline Burns Club in East Ayrshire holds the current world record for producing the biggest haggis.

If that bursts it will make one hell of a mess :-D :-D :-D
