Is there no end to this bl**dy football?
I bought a book of 6 stamps yesterday. On getting them out this morning, I thought there were only 4.

Then I realised, those sketches of footballers either side are also stamps :-|

How much did THAT cost?
If I'd wanted 'souvenir' football stamps, surely they could have issued a separate commemorative book?
There was no warning.
I've no idea when I'd want to use the horrible images on any correspondence I send. :-| :-P

In my effort to show you these shocking images, I find I have purchased a football 'heroes' stamp booklet. Going for money on e-bay.

Heroes? They kick a ball around a field and earn ridiculous wages for the privilege, how is that heroic?

If you haven't used them, sell them on! :-D

Celebration stamps are big business. The postal service has to make money somewhere now that many individuals have cut down on the number of letters they post. The Internet has done away with a lot of the postal traffic.

Thank goodness for free view and satellite channels - although many of the series we like to watch are drawing to a close, we've managed to find something unrelated to occupy our evenings.

Thankfully there doesn't seem to be too much hysteria this time round. Perhaps the people we associate with arent interested. With a bit of luck they'll be on their way home by the weekend.

Nothing heroic about them at all. Hero is a much overused word these days, not just in sport.

Unfortunately Det, I've used one (a 'normal' one), as that's why I bought them, and have thus 'ruined' this commemorative set. :-S

Agree Gwynne.

Copied from another forum ;-) ;-) ;-)

DVLA

In order to assist other motorists in identifying potentially dangerous drivers, it’s now compulsory for anyone with a lower than average driving ability to display a warning flag.

This flag comprising of a red cross on a white background should be attached to the top of at least one door of the vehicle.

For drivers of exceptionally low ability additional flags are required.

As someone that suffers from COPD, I would dearly love to have the breath and stamina just to be able to run...........

give them their due football is as much a skill as archery or tennis
pay is driven by demand , if you are good at what you do, you attract good pay........

you only have to look at directors/ ceo's salaries for a comparison.........

however on last nights scooter program, I was astounded to see the way that damages was split.............out of summat like £16,000 only 5,000ish went to the victim...the rest went to the solicitor........

I don't know about tinternet reducing postal traffic. Since I started shopping online, I've been getting more post than ever before. :-D
But it is ridiculous how football is being publicised everywhere. When will they realise that a lot of us just don't care about it. :-|

I hate cookery programmes. They put me off my food.

Apparently, there is one major difference that distinguishes a British stamp from stamps in any other country. Anyone wish to guess what that is & why?

Hey Annina!

You have hit on a brilliant idea, what about celebrities and politicians too! :-D :-D :-D

Most celebs and politicians do not need to advertise their lack of intelligence, it is often apparent as soon as they open their mouths!!! :-D

I wanted to support Ireland, who were cruelly denied entry through apathy.

Two exciting games today - Colombia vs Ivory Coast at 5 o'clock, and Japan vs Greece at 11 o'clock. Italy tomorrow so not much football to watch this evening. :-( :-(

I hate cookery programmes too!! If I wanted to, I could put all that gunk with a tasty bit of meat, but I prefer simple fare - and to taste what I bought!
As for stamps - is it something to do with the Queen's head?

Mauatthecoast

Mauatthecoast Report 19 Jun 2014 14:20

Nowhere is the name of the country on any British stamps...

Because originally stamps were only to be used here.

Spot on Dazed, whilst listening to one of our brainless footballers droning on in a boring monotone,I wondered, with all the millions paid to them, why don't they get some elocution lessons?

Some foreign players speak English better than our own home-grown ones. :-S :-S :-S
