I think "amusing" threads late at night are often not quite so funny if one has not downed a goodly quantity of something stimulating ;-) Like Pinot :-D

Thankyou very much for your posts. Was not expecting so much interest in the subject.

In some ways, I would like to think I am still growing in maturity. I do not personally identify with the list because
1. I know when I have upset someone and apologise immediately. Tend to blame myself always.
2.When another member of Genes experiences something rreally good and really happy in their lives, I congratulate them. Perhaps not always on a thread (old age does make one forgetful) but always in my heart. Never ever felt any feelings of jealousy as an adult since somebody got promoted over me in 1990.

I would add two other traits of immaturity for over 40's. To find smutty comments and smutty thoughts appealing. And to be overly stubborn and ridiculously resilient when others who disagree with you appear to be immature.

Well, I could say that grammatically the first item on that list says more about the author (could be from any site on the internet).

Get some sleep John. Go out and smell some fresh air. You are not doing yourself - or members who come to 'chat' for company and enjoyment - any favours.

Signs of emotional immaturity
1) You don’t take responsibility for your mistakes and always find someone else to blame.
2)You are insecure, often defensive and have low self esteem. You are desperate for people to comment on anythread you start.
3) When something great happens to someone you know instead of being thrilled for them, you often feel jealous.
4)You are stuck in childhood accrued patterns of thinking and behaving.
5) you struggle to cope with an increasinly adult world as you get older

I’d love to hear any stories or examples you have experienced of emotional immaturity in yourself or others and how you overcame and dealt with it. Also what points would you add to the list of signs of emotional immaturity above?
