Sadly football today IS all about money and about how much revenue is brought into the club (this is Premiership not teams struggling to 'keep up'.)

In the past all football grounds were miserable for fans supporting their teams, eg. bad pitches, no seats= standing room only, and huge queues for abysmal toilets. So along came the billionaire buyers who offered fans a dream... of fantastic all- seater & 'weather proof' stadiums, halleliliah! but at a cost! I know I'm probably stating the obvious here, but,
mega-billionaires now own & run the biggest clubs.....for big profits.

Four of England's top teams are in the top ten highest revenue making clubs in the world. They can afford the very best players but unfortunately can also pick the best foreign players.

My home team Newcastle is owned by Mike Ashley (ahem )Sports Direct and estimates £6,5000m. Small fry compared to some clubs.
I support N/Castle, and England, and even though we've had great players, I know only too well what it feels like to suffer defeat and disappointment:-( :-(

Where there's big money there has to be big wages and I think personally it's killed the game in many ways, but, if you've ever sat in a huge modern football stadium willing your team to win! it's thrilling. :-D

The England team have been asked to play a friendly game of football against Iceland.

If they win they get to play Tescos and Sainsburys.
