You're not being unreasonable,Lady Scozz,my reaction would be the same as yours, and I'm a retail shop assistant!

I have DC......... haven't found anything quite as good.

I agree about the early dementia.......... he was always a grouchy old B, now he's worse!

I do feel sorry for him......... to a point; but I don't think he should be in a shop, insulting customers.

Sounds to me that the man may be suffering from early onset Dementia.

As there are so many puzzle magazines around these days, have you looked for something similar that you can subscribe to.

:-D

I used to subscribe to the magazine, but that wasn't successful....... it often didn't arrive, just about every time there was a different delivery address on it, with various spellings of my surname! Sometimes it's useful having an unusual name, as the post office figured out it was for me (OH's paternal ancestors come from Cornwall).

I might have a word with the woman in the newsagent, tell her (nicely) that if they can't provide the service I'll go elsewhere (it means a bit of a drive for me, but at least I'll get my magazine).

It's a puzzle magazine, I've already checked, it's not available online.

Have you considered asking the magazine firm if they do an e- version as there are more and more available to read on tablets but can also be read, not as conveniently on a PC?

lol Scozz

Is it a magazine that you could subscribe to directly? I know that you would then have additionally the cost of postage

I'm assuming that you only pay for it when you collect it :-)

If that is the case, while it is bl**dy annoying, there is not much that you can really do about.

I've worked in small communities, often with just the local deli as the only business. I've seen the attitudes of the operators vary from: 'I don't want to drive my customers away, and therefore I will provide a good service' to 'Well, there's no where else for them to shop so they can take it or leave it

When I lived in Leonora (1982) the resident town population was 500. No one used the local butcher because of his attitude. They bought in bulk from either Perth or Kalgoorlie.

Even with the freight costs it was still cheaper :-0

We don't have many shops in our town.

One of the shops is a newsagent, run by a married couple. The woman is always pleasant and helpful, her husband is not. He's always been a grumpy, impatient, unhelpful man, I never liked dealing with him.

Over the last year or so he's got worse, mixing up orders, being quite nasty to customers. OK, I feel a bit sorry for him, because it's obvious he's getting on a bit.

I have a standing order for a magazine (from the US) that arrives every couple of months. It's overdue, so I 'phoned the shop to ask........ and was told "Oh, he did it again, he put your magazine on the rack, and someone bought it".

No apology. No offer to try to find a replacement magazine. This would be the third time in 18 months that he has done it.

Like I said, I feel a bit sorry for him, but this is no way to run a business!

Am I being unreasonable?

:-(

btw ~ the nearest other newsagent is 30 minutes away
