Why is corned beef considered to be Pleb Food ? :-S :-S. Just a matter personal taste. I like it, and I can assure whoever said this I am not a pleb. My son would not thank you for it even if it was all there was to eat.

Sorry but I find it offensive describing food as Yuk.

You may not like particular foods but not everyone has the same tastes.

Well I don't eat it because these days I cook with oil not dripping but I did love toast with dripping and salt.

Liver and onions or kidney, bacon and onions I love

Actually not keen on corned beef but wouldn't call it 'pleb' food.

Herring roes on toast is that 'peasant' food?

I love

Spam
Fish Fingers
And Burgers (preferably M & S or my Butchers own)

Being of Irish extraction, Boiled Ham and Cabbage with potatoes boiled in their skins was a regular in our home.

Love Braised Steak, but not too fond of a stew (a totally different flavour)

All time fav. Roast Beef with all the trimmings (no sprouts!)

Will not eat Bambi or Thumper and do not get me started on Veal! Actually got our canteen at work (many years ago) to take Veal off the menu, well they had too as once I told everyone where it comes from/how the baby cows are treated, no one would eat it!!!!

My OH has always said, that if I had nothing in the fridge but cheese, I would be happy....

Corned beef hash, liver & onions, sausage & mash, any cold roast meat with chips &pickles & chutney, fish chips & mushy peas........in fact most things I would never have eaten in England, but which are manna from heaven here because they are rarer than hens teeth.

How about "Boiled Beef and Carrots" or a decent All In Stew. As for Corned Beef being called Pleb Food :-D In the forces it was refered to as "Desert Chicken". :-D :-D

DazedConfused

Recently on another forum a poster referred to Corned beef as “pleb” food.
Now I take issue with that and food snobbery in general so what 3 “peasant” foods do you like?
My votes go to.

Corned beef hash

Crusty bread, salty butter and a chunk of cheddar

Bread and sugar sandwich, or a bit more upmarket, made using banana and brown sugar.
;-) ;-) ;-)
