agree with everything Supercrutch says - I too fell out with John big time after he called me a liar and refused to apologise - but over the ensuing months he changed his attitude totally and I grew to respect him - something I never ever thought would happen - we are allowed to change our minds - during our dispute in which many participated I soon realised that I'd also changed my mind drastically on one of the many and saw a completely different side to that person

I also agree, Susan, that to bring that episode Errols personal matter onto the boards which was no ones buisness and make it public and all the sniping that went on was terrible,,,,,

I reckon that someone at GR said how many fingers are held up behind my back,,,,,6 then thats what it will be,,,,,,,

2 weeks at the most was plenty.

What I would like to know is.....Where on earth did they get the figure 6 from......Why not seven or eight.....or even five......seems weird and we will probably never know!

I am guilty of changing my mind about John and I was one of the worse for calling him out on subjects. I always held my hands up to what I had done , unlike some.

During my break from GR I still looked in from time to time and realised he had mellowed....i have also been in contact with him via pm.

Who I choose to support and why is entirely my own business and I certainly take exception to being regarded as a member of a 'pack'.

I like others find his ban disproportionate, of course he deserved a month's GR holiday, he was being a complete prat, but more than 6 years is unheard of.

Well said, Dermot.

I, for one, totally agree.

The minute we hear raised voices or undeserved comments, we become defensive.

The tone of some postings can mislead the reader & becomes generally off-putting. It is perfectly acceptable to disagree with another comment while offering alternative views & it can easily be done without being disrespectful.

Let's keep the debate clean and don't assume that the moral high ground belongs to one side only.

I will go along with that Sharron. Very well put. it sickened me when John was torn to pieces and it sickened me when the same happened to Errol.....and any others in the years I have been on here.

Kay????

Kay???? Report 29 Jun 2014 09:54

I'm sure John aswell as everyone else knows that Errol isnt with John in spirt,,,yet he just has to add that quip when its best left as it is...them that wish to add in a good way for John let them,,,,,those that are indifferent can walk by.

He flouted the rules,so he will have to pay the price........be it an unjust lenghtly one in manys opinion,,,,,,but GR made the term and it has to be accepted......

I back the remarks,,,,,,,John was treated appauling and had some dreadful remarks made to him which would have driven anyone else from the board.....,he chose to let it go which was dammed decent of him .imo.

Since he first came on here and picked a fight with me I have kept away from threads that John has posted on.

I did, eventually stop pulling any thread of mine that he posted on unless he was first answer.

However, some time ago I watched a great number of people attack him on here and now I feel I am watching the same thing happen to Errol on John's behalf.

While I am not very interested in John's presence or absence on the boards I am intrigued by the way the pack behaves.

As has been said several times, many of us have had a change of heart about John as we grew to understand his sense of humour and his foibles.

We are all allowed to reconsider our initial reaction to things - it's called 'a learning curve'.

Some learned to stay off a thread if John was on his soapbox. Others didn't.

Not once have I gloated and did in fact say that it may be disproportionate.

However, I really do not see what all the fuss is about - particularly from some who would not even give said member the time of day not so long ago.

How times and people change. Some could be said to be fickle I suppose.

There is nothing for me to leave alone.

AnnCardiff

AnnCardiff Report 28 Jun 2014 23:04

a big fuss because the penalty is grossly disproportionate and because, as it must be apparent to you, many of us are very upset about it - we do not expect you to be upset of course - so as Kay says - leave well alone

eRRolSheep

eRRolSheep Report 28 Jun 2014 22:43

The feeling is of course mutual.

GR made a decision. End of.

Why the big fuss over a member who broke the rules despite being warned repeatedly? Just because a person is popular does not mean they can flout the rules.

errol...

can't you just leave well alone,,,,,enough damage has been done because neither of you would keep the agreemnet and stay away from each other,,,,,,,,,let it go......you have your justice and peace for the next 6 years,,,,,,,,,, :-)
