Exactly Scozz, the loud music is painful, I am always having to ask for it to be turned down when out eating etc. because as you say, it hurts

Best of luck to your young friend, he will be force to be reckoned with at that height. and I bet the girls love that shy smile from a hunk!

Why is music played so loud, especially in restaurants?

I have part-hearing in one ear, and if the noise is really loud my "good" ear starts to hurt!

:-(

I agree, our 18year old friend will go far...... he's a very nice young man, has a beautiful shy smile....... and he is 6'4"!!! He'll be a big boy when he grows up. :-D

How nice, that young man will go far!

I was at my brother's 60th bday bash a couple of years back and there was a band playing, they were so loud you couldn't hear yourself speak. I find this happens a lot and it really spoils a nice evening when people get together and want to catch up with each other's lives etc I often end up going home from such 'dos' with a sore throat from having to shout all the while to make myself heard.

I often ask in restaurants for the music to be turned down a bit, most of the time they are happy to do so, as again it spoils my enjoyment if I can't have a conversation at normal level with the people I am with.

I think deafness will be even more common than today with the younger generation. I realised I was getting old when I stopped enjoying going out to clubs, shame as I couldn't have a good old bop lol

A young friend of ours has a new job, at the other end of the State, this was her going-away party.

There was a band at the party. A very LOUD band.

I thought my ears were bleeding.

I found a quiet(ish) corner ........ and was joined by the 18yr old son of a friend......

He said "who told him he could sing?" ... I laughed, he then said "They're awful, they're mangling all the music".

I laughed again, said that I thought it was just me, getting old. :-(

Then he said "You're not old, you have a really young attitude" :-D

Wow. That made my night :-D :-D :-D :-D
