Shirley~I,m getting the hang of it

Shirley~I,m getting the hang of it Report 29 Jun 2014 16:18

Silly s.d has lost one of his hearing aids

He was wearing them on Friday but yesterday he came down late morning.he gets up late, to say he cant find one of his hearing aids

Went upstairs to the bedroom expecting to find it on the floor, NOPE !! found its battery just under the side of the bed but pulling out the bed no hearing aid .

Went through his washing in the basket just in case NOPE . unmade the bed completely to see if it was there NOPE . Pulled out the drawer cabinets NOPE but did take to opportunity to hoover behind then as well as behind the bed .

Was very wary about putting washing in so checked and double checked it wasnt in any pockets NOPE !

I Give UP . have told him time and time again to take em out BEFORE he undresses as he can catch em on jumpers shirts etc

SO seems he is going to have to buy new ones . These were private as the NHS ones gave him skin problems and he couldnt wear them

So £3500 plus now going down the drain .

Hope i can claim on the house insurance.

I so really want to BOP him :-(

This is a worrying post. I am considering taking the plunge and getting a hearing aid but I have spent a lifetime of losing things. I make more calls to my mobile phone in order to find where I left it than most people contact their friends.

Yesterday at the family history fair in York I couldn't find my car keys when it was time to leave and was instructed to empty my handbag in order to check where the keys were. I had an incredulous audience who couldn't believe what was in there but no keys. It was suggested that I checked my pocket, but normally I wear fitted trousers without pockets. Yesterday I was wearing cords, which have four pockets and yes I had somehow managed to slip them in without noticing.

.....I wonder if they can manufacture hearing aids attached to a chain...?

Have checked all his pockets Mau

Double and triple checked his trousers, shirts pyjama top pockets both the ones going in the wash and the clean ones .

Its certainly not in the bedroom .

He didnt go out on Friday so must be in the house but where!!

As I said I could bop him cos I have told him so many times to take em out before he undresses

Even double checked he hadnt put both in one ear !! he did that too one time .

Well he has to pay for them but its very frustrating cos somehow cos I cant find it its my fault !!

URGGGG :-P :-P :-P

Mind you a few weeks ago I lost the car keys !!

Had taken the cat to the vet for her daily meds visit and parked outside the house to offload her.

Went to get into the car to take it around the back of the house to park it in the garage . NO KEYS

Went bananas as I had locked the car with its remote but no keys in my handbag .

Hubby went into the downstairs loo and what was on the shelf YEP the keys . I had had the urge !! and gone in there before I let the cat out of basket . Doing this automatically without thought on what I did meant I didnt remember

Mind you you do have a spare set so not so disasterless as losing an irreplaceable hearing aid

Shirley.Have you checked the laundry basket (or wherever your dirty laundry is)?
I found my mobile phone in ours last week. I had somehow picked it up with dirty washing and dumped it in the basket.

Yep done that too Found he had put a shirt in the wash with a nail file in its holder in the top pocket That would have bug ..... d the washing machine up for sure

Still no hearing aid

He complained too how disoriented his balance was yesterday,WELL YES it would be wearing just one aid !!

I am more frustrated with him than angry cos I know he does have memory problems , He will have to pay out though to buy new ones but its such a waste of money

Any chance it has got picked up with a used tissue.

Happened to my dad, he was in hospital and took a lead soldier in with him he had carried it all through the war and was his good luck piece he always took with him.

He showed me it was in his drawer wrapped in tissue, he got me to promise it would be cremated with him,

When we got the call that he had died during the night we went up to find his things all cleaned out. The soldier was AWOL any tissues left by a patient of course went into the yellow waste bags for disposal! Never thought about it when he said or I would have made sure the soldier was unwrapped and easily seen!

Hi Shirley. I shall promise St Anthony 2 pounds if he finds the hearing aid before tomorrow. Have you checked under the bed thoroughly, as the battery was nearby? <3

Story of my life.
Hearing aid, mobile & keys.
Why can´t they lose something cheap to replace???
2 hours last night hunting for mobile. Tried ringing it, then he informs me that he has it on vibrate because he doesn´t hear it ring, Hearing aid is on the blink & he can´t afford €100 to get it repaired....or so he says.
I think it´s an excuse not to listen to a word I say.
Thank goodness he doesn´t have contact lenses.

The bed is a divan with under drawers so not much room underneath it But moved it just in case.

No hearing aid

Getting very annoyed now with him especially as been told don't keep going on about it !!

I didnt lose the darn thing he did !!!!

Are they small aids Shirley or like the NHS ones with tubes and over ear pieces? If like the NHS ones they could still be caught on something. did he perhaps remove an item of clothing and hang it back in the wardrobe. Or have you checked the bathroom towels?

Divan with drawers? have you checked your drawers?

reminds me a year or so back I lost a part of a vital piece of equipment, was missing for three weeks, checked every where I thought it might be " left" after cleaning the equipment.

eventually it came to having to notify the police, which I did........
the very next morning My wife came to me saying is THIS what you are looking for?
I must have cleaned the item in the bedroom, got interrupted and put the lost bit away "safely" in one of the bedside cabinets........

best of luck with the search....Bob

Have you checked ALL the drawers even those under the bed.
If it's a teeny tiny aid then they can get anywhere.

I lost my house keys a while ago and knew that had to be somewhere in the house as I had locked up the night before.

After I had searched high and low I eventually found them....
In the toe of the shoes I had taken up to the bedroom when I went to bed !

Hope you find your OH's hearing aid soon Shirley .... adding my appeal to St. Anthony too..
