Susan10146857 Report 1 Jul 2014 15:25

Tomorrow is the start of a weeks worth of Agility comps so over the last 4 days I have been bathing and grooming the dogs so that they will look their best for the show.......

Now could someone please explain to me why? After hours of breaking my back and knowing that I had loads to do today before the off......Did my OH decide to fill the paddling pool and let the dogs play in it???.......Their fur is all frizzed now and I have to start all over again.....I give up!.....No sense whatsoever!

Oh dear - that is very frustrating, used to have an Afghan Hound and I would spend hours grooming him, let him out in the garden and what would he do - roll in the dirt -(

Susan10146857 Report 1 Jul 2014 15:39

lol OFITG.....not quite as bad as an Afgan but nearly.....I am now trying to get up the will to live again before I start the process of re-grooming .....

I wouldn't mind but Oh seems to think he didn't do anything wrong and thinks I am in the wrong for moaning about it.......Can anyone hear my screams on here?

That cream cake sounds like a good idea Sirius :-D

If the dogs had a great time and enjoyed themselves, surely that's far better for them than being made to perform purely for the entertainment of humans.

ps... ya should have chucked him in the pool with `em :-D

Susan - You should know we men are never wrong :-D

Susan10146857 Report 1 Jul 2014 16:08

Budgie!......what a good idea.....never thought of that.....but let's not twist things to get him out of it.....in the pool you go with him! :-D

don't start me off on that one One foot ......you may possibly end up in the pool too. :-D

he is sooooooooooo sweeeeet DShelley :-D

Edit:- They aren't entertaining humans as such Budgie......Believe me, if a dog didn't want to run around the course they play up or don't......my dogs get excercise from jumping.....roughly 30 seconds in the ring.....However,.......They don't take too kindly to having a frizzy hair day.....It doesn't do their street cred any good :-D

Oh how horrid...frizzy hairdos! :-( Can you not tie little bows and rags around like my mummy used to do to mine and I ended up with glossy ringlets! Voila! :-D

I am pretty sure the dogs wouldn't do it if they didn't enjoy it. When we went to the 3 Counties Show at Malvern they had agility dogs doing a display. Some of the dogs were rescue dogs (I missed the announcement so they might all have been). One of the dogs doing the display was a rottweiler that had been very badly treated, his legs had been injured and he had been battered and kicked. Now, he would only have performed for love I am sure and he did perform and you could tell he was really enjoying it. :-)

Susan10146857 Report 1 Jul 2014 17:09

I know BC...not on, is it ( my mother put ringlets in my hair too....I loved them so much that I forced myself to stay awake so as not to flatten them ......but enough of this and back to the thread.....

Your Westie looks as if it would love agility GG

Erm! I think I will give that a miss Lady S

Ann.....I have found the agility community to be above and beyond when it comes to their dogs welfare ......of course you do get some ejits but usually that is down to inexperience......my dogs also go to hydrotherapy as well as massage......dogs do actually know when they have had enough and let their owners know in various ways.

Now.....where was I?.....oh yes!.......about to fill up the deeper pool for an OH who cannot swim

:-D

Susan10146857

Susan10146857 Report 1 Jul 2014 17:19

oh you should really go to a competition GG.....try a small fun one first.....once you get the hang of it you could maybe try Kennel Club or UKA.........It is great fun and one gets to meet all walks of life......nobody makes fun of anyone who is new...cos on the day it could be their dog.....whichever grade they are in.....that runs out of the ring after an imaginary rabbit :-D
