Thanks all, we had a lovely meal out. We went to a restaurant none of us had visited before, it's relatively new in Norwich - see http://www.drayyardsmokehouse.co.uk/

I can recommend it highly, the food was lovely, and lots of it, good service and pleasant atmosphere and manager and waitress very friendly and helpful. The cost was reasonable too for what we got.

It was good to meet my son's future m.i.l. and her parents who are my age and grandma and I got on like a house on fire just as everyone said we would (Well the comments were, Grandma can talk for England....... and the rest was left unsaid but understood lol)

My son's fiancee brought a lovely chocolate cake for her brother and my son to share with us, and the waitress brought it in with candles ablaze and we all sang Happy Birthday as did the other people there. It's not a huge place about another 10 or 12 people eating with us 9 in one corner on a large table. Plenty of room, the only down side is that the loos are downstairs so a bit difficult for some, and not suitable for disabled altho they may have other arrangements, I didn't ask.

We had to eat early cos of little fella who is diabetic so we met at 5pm and he had his meal served very quickly as it was ordered as soon as they came in the door. My son came straight from work as did the 21yr old birthday boy. Our food came soon after and altogether. You can see into the kitchen from the restaurant so you can watch proceedings if preferred.

The weather was a bit damp and gloomy so we didn't hang around outside much, grandparents went off to their car as they live out of the city, and 21 yr old, his Mum (son's m.i.l.t.b) and me and o.h. went off to the bus stop as we live in the same area. Meant we could chat on the way home a bit, and seems d.i.l.t.b. is very keen on having another baby and it's doesn't sound as tho they will wait till their wedding which they are thinking will be in a couple of years! I don't mind either way but was hoping they wouldn't wait that long to try for a little one so am excited now lol

I think more birthday celebrations are on the cards on Saturday night when the little lad will be with his daddy, stepmum, and younger half brother. They are expecting a little girl later this year. It's all happening!

Needless to say, my son heard nothing from his own father or half brother, ridiculous when I tell you that half brother will be 22 on Monday, there are ten years and 4 days between them yet Father can't make the effort to greet his elder son.

I am really pleased my lad will have a nice family around him from his fiancee's side. There is an Aunt and Uncle in New Zealand with cousins on d.i.l.t.b.'s side too

and the result will be celebrating his birthday this evening with his b.i.l.t.b. and fiancee and family and me and o.h.

When he was born he was such a cute little baby, now he's a grown man with a beard and still a full head of hair, and is making his way to establishing a family unit of his own.

Happy Birthday Son, I am so proud of you, always have been and always will be.

I watched One born ..... a little while ago as I had recorded it, oh the memories!
