When we lived in Irvine, ex and I were talking politics to a friend under a lamp post. We were all in agreement, but were lambasting the current government. The friend had a habit of thrusting his head forward to emphasise a point. |

In the late 60's I used to have a Vauxhall Victor and the big end bearings needed replacing. I am not that mechanically inclined so my neighbour offered to help, we got the new bearings, stripped the engine down, fitted the new bearings, re-assembled the engine, took it out for a test drive, travelled about 1/2 mile or so, horrible crunching noise and smoke everywhere. |

A friend of a friend lives three doors away. When her husband left her five years ago she couldn't get hold of our mutual friend and for some reason assumed it was her that the husband had gone off with. He hadn't, but the friend was so horrified that she thought that, she hasn't spoken to her since. It turned out he went off with another bloke. |

mm I did once break up a fight , got slugged in the process and also arrested. Thankfully the landlord of the pub when he got up verified my claim that I was the idiot who lived at the bottom of the garden ! |

Oh yes,,,,,,,when nursing and on nights I was walking down the ward just checking on the patients,,,,,,,, on the floor was a walkman type machine and ear phones that one of the elderly dears had been listening to music early on in the night,,,,,,,as I bent down to pick it up to put on her locker,,,,,,,she gave a terrifying squawk and bashed me on the head,!!,,,,thinking I was stealing it in her half sleep state,,,,,,,,,,,needless to say she woke up the 10 bed ward and then most were wanting a cuppa and toileting ,,,,,,,,well I ended up as tea and biscuit girl ,,,,,,,,,,and sister was none to happy having a ward full of gabbering and clanking during the wee small hours :-D :-D :-D :-D. :-D. |

If I am in the checkout queue with a trolley full, this is invariably the case because I do put off going until we run out of everything, and there is somebody behind me with a couple of things, I let them go in front. |

I once overcame my horror of garden spiders and put a pint glass over one, a thick card underneath and with trembling, sweaty palmed hands threw it out the front door. |
