I am not saying you are wrong I am only saying what my experience was.
OH isn't registered disabled but has a blue badge. We asked for a disabled parking bay outside the house. We could of at the cost of £60.00 but anyone else with a blue badge could park in there. We also have hardstanding but no drop kerb, the bloke that came round said as far as he was concerned we could bump up the kerb.

Yes it is annoying when you think your neighbours could leave the space outside your own house.

We were thinking ahead when we applied as the house next door is up for sale and at the moment they are only a one car family and parking is tight.

If you haven't already, see if the Occupational Therapy department can arrange for hand rails in the garden. It may not look 'pretty' but could make things easier for him.

If your husband is not registered as disabled, if he is of pension age he, by the sound of it, would be entitled to Attendance Allowance (same thing, not taxed nor income/savings taken into ac count).

My house also has a garage at the back in a hammerhead/access and I have four steps down from patio. I mentioned to a matron who attended me at the time that we were trying to find someone to put in a rail - she took over and I was most surprised to find out that there was no charge

Of course you may have done this already - visit Citizens Advice and your local County Councillor (they look after highways and footpaths. City Council may have grants available.

OH has walking problems due to his body dementia . He has a blue badge parking ticket that we do use to help him .

We have a car !! and have our own garage in the back garden accessed via a cul de sac that runs behind the houses

Now our garden is sloped down to the house with a couple of steps at different levels but hubby now is finding stepping up each step very precarious and he wobbles as he tries and its worrying he may fall. He has done in the past

Neighbours seem to think we dont need to park at the front of the house . Neighbours include those not that close too but live way up the road and in the cull de sacs opposite .

Yes i know we all pay road tax and have no right to park outside our own houses but a bit of consideration wouldnt go amiss

I have tried to get a disabled parking bay put in BUT NOPE we dont qualify because a he isnt registered as disabled and b we have a garage

our front garden is paved over but we cant get a dropped kerb put in either unless we get planning permission and pay over £2000 .

Meanwhile he struggles to walk from where I can park during the day Or I have to double park opposite to let him out of the car and struggle across the road and struggle to unlock the porch and front doors . He has Alzheimer as well as body dementia and some frosty nosed B said when I chased up his blue badge application that Alzheimer isnt a reason to give him a blue badge!!

He did get one though as his walking is a big problem

I get so annoyed that we have to fight to get parking near our own house
