Again this government is going after the easy targets, the poor, the needy and those who have worked hard all their lives and now they want them (us) to work even longer.

They are a bunch of MILLIONAIRE hypocrites. Bet they will not be working until they drop.

Why do they not just come clean, bring back the workhouse, and those who fall on hard times can go there...

I think after 7 years of 24/7 care which saved the taxpayer thousands of pounds, you deserve a year off :-D

Good luck with not working :-D

I can't wait until I retire.....so much we want to do before we get too old and rickety to enjoy life :-D

Sharron - hope you don't get a job - good luck

Why should you have to now start all over again.

I retired (voluntary redundancy) just over 10 years ago when I was 50. It has been fantastic. I was very lucky and got a reasonable pension from Royal Mail, we have in the subsequent years been able through, a couple of inheritances and not reducing our payments pay off the mortgage a year or so ago.

Am now registered disabled due to knackered knees and am now unable to walk very far. So I get D.L.A. which gives me a motobility car.

I am just so glad I never signed on to look for a job, which I had intended to do, as I would probably be in the same situtation. And like you I DO NOT WANT TO WORK UNTIL I DIE...... ;-) ;-)

Sharron Report 15 Jul 2014 14:50

All right. I will admit it.

I don't want to work.

I am over sixty, have done seven years without respite, am just learning how to relax and get my sleep patterns back to something like normal. I am extremely unfit and need to get going again.

I want to be a benefits scrounger, so there!

Totally shameless!

You may not fail any interviews, but as an experienced adult who knows the jobs market, you are on a loser against a youngster who can and will be told what to do.

Hope you get on all right

Tried that.

Unfortunately I have a toyboy (59).

Yet another inconvenience he has caused me!

Sharon, if you've only 12 months to go, you might find that they'll give you your pension earlier as long as you have sufficient years of credit.
Another member said her OH was made redundant within something like 9 months to pension age. Rather than add to the unemployment figures, they put him down as retired!

Good luck to anyone of more mature age who is job hunting. It's not easy unless you are willing to commute or move.

I've got another 8 years before my pension - thanks to Cameron and his cronies :-P :-P :-P

With my record of brutality I can't see me going into any sort of caring job.

I will get my pension next year and, until then, I don't think I will have many problems in failing job interviews.

Sirius Report 14 Jul 2014 23:22

Good luck.... don't let them brow beat you into taking 'carers' jobs on the grounds that you've been doing that....they will try ! Unless of course you want to, in which case you'll be pleased to hear you can knacker your health for basic wage until you are 66/7 as there is ( apparently) one job in health care coming up every 9 minutes. Or so I was told .

:-D

I too am looking for another job.
But who wants a bolshie 58 year old who's peed off with shuffling paper to the tune of cr*p management?

Oh, and I wear cords to work. Have worn the same things for the past 5 years - no pay rise, no new work clothes :-P

It looks like I am going to look for a job.

Have an appointment coming up at the Jobby.

Well, I worked all those years in the expectation of getting my pension at sixty and I have been at home for seven years now apart from the little job I have kept going.

My wardrobe contains jeans, slightly smarter jeans, some of which are less than ten years old and trousers and jacket I use for the little job.

No doubt there is an employer somewhere just desperate for me to come along.
