yes GL....I too found patents pending for two of my ancestors.......I also found documents that explained why one side of the family were factory owners one minute then in the poor house the next.....there are also probate records...up to date as well as bygone.....war stuff.....name changes.......very interesting and a lot of it up to date too.

The Belfast Gazette and Edinburgh Gazette are also on the same site.

I didn't enter a town, but the name of an estate in Renfrewshire
I got a page from 1851 about the sequestration of the estate.

This explains how my rellie became the next owner!
His name came up on another search, relating to a patent.

I think I'll make more use of this site :-D :-D :-D

Click on the link below which will take you to the London Gazette.......on the main page there is a search box to the right......enter the name of your village or town...could be where you live or lived....anywhere in fact...



I got the error message too....must be the iPad.....seems to be working now though.

Not sure what your instruction means susan wiv but when I went into the Gazette I got the following mesage:

Internal Server Error

We apologise but an internal server error has occurred. A report has been logged to our service desk and the issue is being addressed.

Please try again later. We apologise for any inconvenience.


Anyway, do you mean enter village etc in the Gazette, or on here and do you mean village where we live or where we came from? :-D :-D :-D
sorry I know I am a bit dense sometimes but my excuse is that it is hot!!!
