Liz, I am looking at property to invest in. It's just one of the things I am looking at. Florida would be a pure investment for rental return and not a holiday home. |

Look into it closely Uzzi, I believe that a lot of people are selling in florida because of them not getting a good return. |

The US economy is still in the toilet, many properties being handed back to mortgage holders. |

I do understand all of what has been said and appreciate it but to be honest the US economy is no worst than Spains, aslo I am not looking for a holiday rental, fast buck return, but a long term let steady income and an investment once the market picks up in a few years time. If I go the holiday rental I would be tempted to buy close by where I could keep an eye on it, but the Spanish government will want to much of my profit off me being a 2nd home so hence the idea of other countries. . |

Still look into it Uzzi, you'd have to employ an agent and that would siphon off a lot of your money. Worth trying to find out how many properties are already up for long lets and still empty. |

I have just done a bit of Googling. Portugal looks like a non-starter, but France might be worth investigating. It's not on the doorstep, but also not impossible to visit if necessary. |
