Reading this report in The Independent today - makes me wonder if The Big Society project could have dome more harm than good :-(

Voluntary sector groups have become “collateral damage” in the push to funnel funds and projects to David Cameron’s flagship Big Society Network, a leading charity executive said yesterday.

The report says that Andy Thornton, a former government adviser and chief executive of the Citizenship Foundation, said funding to established charities with strong track records had dropped significantly while money was poured into failed Big Society Network projects.

Politicians have an occupational hazard in that they believe they are indispensable.

They also have a pathological unwillingness to admit to making a mistake, let alone committing a crime.

I don't trust David Cameron at all He's arrogant and talks a lot of eyewash so won't be surprised about anything he sets up.

S'funny, whenever I've typed that word lately, especially in relation to the government, that typo happens.
Do you think it's my subconscious trying to politely indicate what I really think about them in power? :-)

The Prime Minister David Cameron’s flagship Big Society Network is being investigated by the Charity Commission over allegations that it misused government funding and made inappropriate payments to its directors – including a Tory donor.

The organisation, which was launched by the Prime Minister in 2010, was given at least £2.5 million of National Lottery funding and public-sector grants despite having no record of charitable activity.
