I like my alcohol 'unmixed'.

Cocktails - a lot of money that lasts all of 10 minutes max.

A pint of decent ale - ooh, at least 20 minutes :-D

I like jagermeister - on it;s own - just chilled in fridge and as for having it with red bull - sorry red bull is rubbish

OH would worry me when he had two pints cos he went all all silly and then would puke !!

My parents would only have a drink on Xmas Eve as they married on Xmas day 1929 and then would go for late pint for dad and a half for mum late on Xmas eve at the local which would have a license to stay open till 12 midnight

OH parents though were regular drinkers . not drunks but liked their Saturday night outings which involved seeing other regulars at the pub.

Only once did I see OH dad a bit worse for wear. We were living at theirs after our 1957 marriage and had got gazumped on a place . That Christmas or maybe new year I went to go to the loo!! and opening the door got confronted with FIL naked bum . My innocent self didnt know what to do so first I closed the door THEN went to call hubby to sort out his dad!!

We never did speak of it at any time as I didnt want to embarrass FIL

Lol Good for you Sharron, but doesn't it seem a dreadful waste of money to drink the way they do? They drink purely to get out of their heads and then forget how much they have spent lol And isnt the reason we aren't fighting in the streets and peeing our pants is because we have become just a little more dignified and sensible in our old age?

Mind you I have seen many older people on these programmes about the police and nightlife etc who are probably into their early 50's getting into bother with the police because they are out drinking with their families and when the younger ones get into bother, the parent lashes out (Mums hitting the police with their handbags and falling off their high heels) and generally behaving badly.

I had my first, and I wouldn't mindbettingmy last, Jaeger Bomb.

A young lad, 20,was chatting to me when I was working in a pub and insisted he should buy me a drink. (Oh, alright, I'm boasting! Indulge an old biddy a bit.)

He had been talking about these Jaegar Bombs so I asked him to get me one. He had one as well and told me you are supposed to down them in one.

I did this and really can't see the point but he was quite surprised that I could even do it and not splutter or have any side effects, and faster than he.

As I explained to him, I have been drinking since before his mother was born, I can do it! They didn't actually invent getting rat-arsed,

The reason they don't see us old gits fighting and peeing our pants on the streets is because we can hold it, not that we can't drink it.
