'Emma' Report 9 Aug 2014 13:26

Agree GB was a bit disappointing.

Hope Brian Blessed is calmed down for his one next week.

BarbinSGlos Report 9 Aug 2014 13:33

Why didn't you enjoy it ? It showed what such hard times people went through and their fight for a better life.

Just turn the sound down for next week ;-) ;-) :-D

'Emma' Report 9 Aug 2014 13:38

I thought it went on too long, they seem to stick
to one or two family members, I got it about the hard times and what
they went through was disgraceful but would have loved to hear
how all the children faired through their lives. :-)

BarbinSGlos Report 9 Aug 2014 13:44

I do agree with you about focusing too long on one ancestor.

I am looking forward to The Big Yin and Brendan :-D

I missed it cos OH has the remote control glued to his hand every evening .

We have a tele in the bedroom and I often go and lie on the bed and watch the programs I like like One born every minute .

Trouble is I fall asleep too and miss bits !!

I didnt see the programming for WDYTYA so missed it .

Hopefully some time it will be repeated .

DazedConfused Report 10 Aug 2014 14:39

As someone with Irish family, I was hoping this would be more interesting than it was. Yes we know how hard life was for farmers in Ireland, it was hard for everyone. But I felt that what I did see, I did not learn from.

I fell asleep....... Luckily I was recording it and watched next day. Still found it quite boring. And whenever she was walking anywhere she looked like Mrs. Overall.....

I think the only episode that had Irish researc in it, which I have ever enjoyed was Amanda Redmonds.

A great opportunity, missed
I hope that Brendan O`Carrolls show more on how hard Irish research can be....... :-(

Re the Julie Waters episode.

For once OH sat and watched it together. We found the historical details interesting as we only have a vague knowledge of what went on in Ireland.
As he said, if it was a different actress, we might not have been so enthralled.

We're are reserving judgement about the format until we've watched one or two more episodes of the series.

Fingers crossed Det that they will be
interesting.

Amazing tonight that the 2 brothers met up again after such hardship in their early years.

Exactly as expected when an actor or actress is shown on this badly done program,

Boring and uninteresting. :-( :-(

'Emma'

'Emma' Report 14 Aug 2014 22:48

I found his story interesting, he was as expected.

Next week it is Tamzin Outhwaite.

Gwyn in Kent

Gwyn in Kent Report 14 Aug 2014 22:51

I didn't think it was boring.

The family moving out of area and then the children being 'moved on' so quickly after trauma was quite moving.

maggiewinchester Report 14 Aug 2014 22:57

Considering it focussed mainly on two people - Barnabus the father, and Jabez the son, I found it extremely interesting.
As for Brian, he was a lot quieter than I expected :-D

BarbinSGlos

BarbinSGlos Report 15 Aug 2014 08:33

My OH thought Brian was well over the top as usual, but putting aside his theatrics I thought it was an interesting and very moving program.

To lose parents and siblings at such an early age. So sad. Then for the two brothers to be found being together after all those years was wonderful.

I am not afraid to admit I had a tear.
