My dad went sitting in the chair and my seven year daughter found him that was nearly thirty years ago now but it has never left her.

So sorry to hear this LadyScozz <3 <3

Went to the second wake this afternoon.

One funeral & wake was a week ago, today the 2nd wake, they had a private (family only) funeral early this week.

So very sad......... and I still expected him to walk in, and tell a joke.

We didn't go to the funeral of OH's cousin's husband, they live about 650km away.

One of the women has lots of family here, the other has no family at all...... we'll be making sure she's OK as best as we can.

We went out last night, to the club as usual.

Sitting around the table, everyone said the same thing... we kept waiting for our friend!

We toasted him, which I'm sure he'd appreciate.

I'll miss him, and his great stories.

How sad, Scozz, you are getting it all this week, aren't you? They say things come in threes so hopefully you have had your share now and will get no more bad news.

I do find comfort in thinking of those departed meeting up elsewhere and being welcomed by someone they knew and loved, and if it's a family member of mine I imagine my mother with her usual hospitality serving up tea and homemade cake!

This is a really horrible week.

OH came home with the sad news that another friend has died.

He has been very sick for a long long time, but it's still very sad.

I'm going to find a quiet spot and have a weep.

Oh Scozz, my deepest sympathy on your sad loss of your friend and your husband's relative too.

Sudden deaths are always a terrible shock but as others have said, better that than see someone you love suffer for a long time with terminal illness.

My friend's husband died in a similar way, she was at the dressing table chatting away to him as he sat up in bed, when she didn't get a reply she looked more closely and he was slumped over, dead.

I suppose it's the fact that there was no time to say the things you might want said, and you wonder if you could have done anything to save your loved one.

My heart goes out to both those ladies who have lost their partners, your husband's cousin must be devastated after suffering two losses like that and your friend will need your love and support like never before.

May both men rest in peace.

Wisechild, I am sorry about your friend who took his life, may he rest in peace too, he must have been very troubled.

More bad news.

My OH's cousin's husband died on Tuesday. He was also in his early 60s.

She lost her first husband when he was very young (late 20s).

This is an awful week.
