DH has been working in the garden this morning.

He came in for lunch, left his boots at the garage door (outside).

He went back outside........ I heard him shout.......... because there was a RAT in one of his boots!

At night, we hear something in the bushes in the back garden.

Up until now, we've thought it was a possum.

I'm getting searchlights out tonight!

:-(

Rat traps are on the shopping list

LadyScozz Report 1 Aug 2014 12:13

It was a very brave rat, getting into DH's boot!

It's now nearly 9.15pm, I've been out on the back deck, listening........

All quiet on the eastern front.

:-(

LadyScozz - If you have rats about, take some comfort that no mice will be nesting anywhere nearby. Rats & mice are not friendly bedfellows.

Now, doesn't that make you feel better already! Sleep soundly.

I'll have to talk to the kookaburras!

They're falling down on their job.

:-D

I thought they were cute, until one sat on the rail of our back deck, with half a rat hanging out of his beak.

Bobtanian,
Soon after we were married I found a stray dog, thin as a rake fractured hip very poorly. I brought him home after seeing a vet and letting the police know.
We left him downstairs when I came down in bare feet he had had a massive bottom malfunction on the step, I can still remember to this day feeling it squidge up between my toes and trying to hold my balance till the Mrs got to me with a bag to step into! :-0 :-0 :-0

Strangely, I was in the kitchen this afternoon with out strange friend (three wheeler, thinks there are Polish in the sub-station etc.) when a mouse shot across the floor and hid by my foot.

Well, the way he went on you would have thought it was a bloody cobra!

Oh heavens, I would have shrieked the place down Sharron, and probably even managed to leap on a chair, leaping is not something I am known for these days lol

A Windmill In Old Amsterdam.
-----------------------------------------
A mouse lived in a windmill in old Amsterdam
A windmill with a mouse in and he wasn't grousin'
He sang every morning, "How lucky I am,
Living in a windmill in old Amsterdam!"

Chorus:
I saw a mouse!
Where?
There on the stair!
Where on the stair?
Right there!
A little mouse with clogs on
Well I declare!
Going clip-clippety-clop on the stair
Oh yeah

This mouse he got lonesome, he took him a wife
A windmill with mice in, it's hardly surprisin'
She sang every morning, "How lucky I am,
Living in a windmill in old Amsterdam!"

Chorus

First they had triplets and then they had quins
A windmill with quins in, and triplets and twins in
They sang every morning, "How lucky we are
Living in a windmill in Amsterdam, ya!"

Chorus

The daughters got married and so did the sons
The windmill had christ'nin's when no one was list'nin'
They all sang in chorus, "How lucky we am
Living in a windmill in old Amsterdam!"

Chorus

A mouse lived in a windmill, so snug and so nice
There's nobody there now but a whole lot of mice.

Just be careful, in case it's a Protected rat, they have Pouches.
in your case it could be a Carpentarian Rock-rat. or several species of Domestic rat, some are quite Friendly , like the Kangaroo Rat.

Look it up on google.Under (Australian Rats)

Wouldnt want you to get in trouble with the Australian Rat Fanciers Society.

If "our" rat survived after a few minutes in DH's workboot, it's doing well.
