Does any know how or if it is possible to find out if someone had siblings, I have the name of both parents and the person I am looking for but then the trail goes cold so wondered if there is a way to find a brother or sister if they had any?

Welcome to the boards Liam

If before 1970 After 1911 use
http://www.freebmd.org.uk

Put in fathers surname and mothers maiden name

Yes, although it's not so easy if it is very recent,

Use FreeBMD

http://www.freebmd.org.uk/

Put the surname in and then the mother's maiden name in the right boxes. Put a range of years and all options will come up. You can then filter them by place but this could take a long time if it is a common surname.

Also, the mother's maiden name was not shown before 1912.

I had an unusual maiden name and I have just tried it out. I put a 10 year time spread and it came up with me and both my siblings.

Is this for England or Wales, Liam? The freebmd link give above only applies to them.

What time period are you looking at? If the person in question was born before 1911, we may be able to find them on that census. If this is the case, post some names, dates and places and we will see what we can find.

if he was born in 1965 ....... it is very likely that any other births will NOT be on the freebmd site .......................

they are currently only up to about 1965, and will soon be stopping the addition of any more years.

For years after 1960/65 up until 2005, you have to go to ancestry .............. www.ancestry.co.uk

a subscription site.

Records after 2005 will NOT be put online.
