Fir most of us our pets are like children, they are part of the family. I know I will be devastated at the loss of either of my girls.

I think that was a very kind and thoughtful thing you did to your vet. You are right they deserve to be acknowledged for the care they put into our loved ones. <3

I am sure she is still around Shirley. After we lost our last dog, both my husband and I heard her scratching at the door, I was in the kitchen half-asleep before I realised she was no longer with us.

This happened twice more in the following few days.......no sign of anything in the garden that could have made that distinctive noise either, just her saying she was alright I suppose :-D

I know its true . I am so devastated she has gone though .she does leave an enormous hole though

Its funny though I do think she is here!! i often sit in the lounge in the morning before hubby is up ,as usual, and not thinking about her and out the corner of my eye I see a movement. my first thought its her coming to jump on my lap for her morning cuddles and then NOPE it cant be .
I do often see a movement out of the corner of my eye and for the moment think she id on the landing or walking into the lounge

It does give me some comfort that she may be here in her home that she loved

That's true.

I cried every night for months after my first cat died.

When I lost my favourite cat it was still hard but easier to bear somehow.

We still talk about her and all the funny things she used to do
and we have a good laugh, even though it's years ago now. <3

Shirley, you had her for such a long time you must have a great big hole in your family life. You will always miss her but soon you will remember without tears. <3

Any pet is like a small child really.......they look to us to supply everything they need, from food, water, shelter, love and security.

They leave a massive hole in our lives when they have to go, the pain does get less as time goes by. <3

Gradually, with time, the tears will fade and happy memories will return. After many years we still miss Thomas but often laugh about all the funny things he did. You gave her a good life and she added so much to yours.

I used to go back to the hospital and thank the staff for a while after we lost both our parents in two years.

Its still tears for our little girl Mirabelle

How we get so in love with our pets is really so sad when we lose them

I was ready last week to go to the vet again to thank her for all the care and kindness she gave our little girl and me!!

I took in a lovely bouquet of flowers for the vet with a thank you card and some Thorntons for the vet nurses

The vet was overwhelmed that I had done this and gave me a big hug and said the flowers would be put in the waiting room .

She asked me how I was and I said still having tears!! she said I know but it will get better

I do think its important to thank for all the kindness one gets for our pets. They may be just another patient in a vets practice but feedback on their treatment is important to a vet so they know they have done the right treatment

I am forever grateful to our vet for the extra time we had with out little girl who is still very sadly missed
