He goes to a weekly chair based exercise group put on by the NHS Falls Clinic in our area.

I was speaking to the wife of one of the other participants and she was telling me her OH goes twice a week to a day center run by AGE UK for dementia sufferers. It helps to stimulate their brain cells by giving specific things to do like cooking .painting ,group discussions etc etc . They get picked up and given breakfast on arrival . they get a lunch and afternoon snacks before being brought home after 4pm .

They have 1 staff for every 2 persons so that is good for them being looked after

I think it would do him good to get out and socialize plus he already knows Jim from his class .

We arent funded so its £46 per day but I think it wiil be worth it .

Hope tomorrow they think he will be able as his balance has got really bad this last 6 weeks

Sounds good Shirley. The activities sound great. All that care plus food and transport - can't be bad.

I hope that you OH is able to go.

I hope he goes and gets pleasure from it and you try to relax and have some time to do things you want to ....or nothing at all.

As for having to pay for it yourselves when your husband has a degenerative illness......it should be free for everyone :-| :-| :-|

Well he has been accepted . Quite a lot of form filling in but the lady was very nice and said she thought he would benefit from the social interaction

He will be going on a Wednesday because that day is when the less affected Alzheimer folks do more activity things like making things . cooking etc she felt he was in that group of people which is encouraging .

He cant start tomorrow as they have to put him on the computer system and arrange for the minibus to pick him up . the rotas have already been done for tomorrow SO he starts next wed 13th

He is looking forward to it plus his mate from the falls clinic exercise class goes on a wed too so he will know one person there already.

Will give me a break too !!
