We have not long put on some doors that came from a kitchen that was being replaced in another housing association house because the wheelchair had wrecked all the bottom doors.

Last time they replaced our kitchen, fifteen years ago, I bought all new appliances, cooker, fridge freezer, freezer.

Fred worked hard at knocking them apart so I replaced them when Comet went under so they won't be new this time.

Re, finding treasures......
years ago I was working for a forklift firm, just north of stratford, London, and we were moving to new premises a couple of miles away,( I hadn't been working there for long, only a couple of months)
and we pulled some benches away from the wall where they had been for years....
and all of a sudden my immediate boss let out a shout............as he picked up some bits and pieces that had fallen behind the benches............bloddy ell e says.....
I always reckoned that " So and So"(who had left years before....) had pinched them!! it was the boss's bench that we were pulling out!!

Great news about the kitchen, Sharron.

Do you have any say on type of work-top etc.?

I bet you'll find a few treasures when you move everything for the refit.

a win win situation then Sharron :-)

Sharron Report 5 Aug 2014 10:00

I would have chucked out some of OH's stuff.

The kitchen will come at just the right time. We are doing the front room, which was Fred's bedroom, sanding the floor again and varnishing it where he wore all the last lot of varnish off with the wheelchair,so we will be able to get the whole of the downstairs done in one without all the expected outlay.

Oh wonderful Sharron, a new kitchen. Pleased for you. And you'd only have had to find storage for the Britannicas.

Sharron

Sharron Report 5 Aug 2014 09:14

Yesterday I was told that I won't be getting the Brittannicas I was promised and. after the descriptions of obsolescence I was given on here, I was not as disappointed as I might have been.

Any disappointment I did have was certainly well tempered when I answered the phone to the housing association to be told I was having a new kitchen.
