I live half a mile from the beach. We have no pier. But, the early morning seagull karaoke gets to me.

Oh I do like to be beside the seaside... :-)

Two big stories relating to piers have been in the news recently. That was that terrible fire in Eastbourne. :-( But, on a lighter note, England's oldest pier recently celebrated it's bicentinary.

Ryde Pier on the Isle of Wight opened on the 26th of July 1814.

Where was the last pier you visited? Which is your favourite pier? Do you eat lots of candyfloss when walking along a pier? Do you like to play on the one-armed bandits?

Burnham on Sea here in Somerset is home to what is reputed to be England's shortest pier. Southend on Sea is home to what is apparently the longest pleasure pier in the world.

What else do you like to do at the seaside? Make sand-castles? Donkey rides? Ice cream? Are you one of those people who spends hours sitting on the beach?

I like walking on a sandy beach and feeling the sand between my toes. :-)
