My OH and son think I've gone mad. There has been a empty house in our street for over 10 yrs. The owners son pops in every couple of months to tidy the garden. |

If the house is in a bad state, I'm sure some agreement can be arranged, re rent and renovations - like any money spent comes off the rent. |

How lovely that your son and his enterprising girlfriend have the house and it's near you. Great that the landlady decorated and tidied it for them, and I hope all will go well for them there and the coming baby will have a lovely new home. |

Wouldn't be at all surprised if the house sitting empty for 10 years isn't an address to collect benefits. |

The house belonged to a elderly lady who went to live with son then onto a nursing home. She died last yr. Everything is still inside and as I said you wouldn't realize it was empty. |

She sounds very sensible Anne I wonder if the house has been left to more than one person and is held up waiting for probate. Or maybe she didn't leave a will and legalities are holding things up. It would have been polite to answer your letter though wouldn't it? :-) |

I thought the key way of paying for gas and electricity worked out a lot more expensive, so wouldn't be a good thing for your young family to use. Could they not pay a monthly direct debit to the fuel companies so they know it's going out of the bank account each month, it works out cheaper that way I believe. |
