What does 'a strongly worded statement' really mean?

Dear All

Hello

Some pompous Jobsworth saying:

"I've taken on board all you have said."

Oh yes?

Perhaps you would like to wear a kitchen board on your head!

Take gentle care
Best wishes
Elizabeth,
xx

This irritates me beyond belief...

When looking around a shop, why do the assistants come up to me and ask "y'alright?" to which I give a quizzical look and say "yes I'm fine thank you, how are you?"
For goodness sake, whatever happened to 'How can I help you' and 'Do you need any help' .

I know, I know, I know.....I am a grumpy old woman!!

Thankfully the term is dying out - but management speak, when they refer to 'silo working/thinking'.
As an ex ag lab, I just think of grain dryers, but have just found out - and, apparently I've been 'silo working' for the past 10 year - it's a term for different departments within a business, and the website is full of cringe worthy management speak. :-|

Sorry Mr nerd, but a silo is still a grain dryer to me......

"How are you?" -- " I am good"

Are they good or are they well?

So, I'm in hospital because of an illness.

While there, I really don't want to hear of others who are also sick & I certainly never need to know of anyone who has just died especially if they were suffering from something even distantly related to my incapacity. I have an illness all of my own to worry about.

Kay????

One that gets right up my nose.

*well at least they are in a better place,,,,,,,or well at least they aren't suffering *,,,,,,

such insensitive and unfeeling and meaningless things to say to someone feeling the effects of a loved ones death.

"thinking outside the box" "pushing the envelope" "blue sky thinking". Also a "workshop" when they mean a training session. Worst of all perhaps, HR, when they mean Personnel dept. Bob

Whatever!

Obviously, some GR Members like myself are lucky to have no problems - just 'issues'.

A Devon cream tea is a treat to die for.

Why are GR members so irritated these days? This topic is becoming a regular on here. :-S

when at work we had "face to face" meetings where a manager(of some sort) would take the stand to outline a forthcoming company policy.

there was one who continually used the word
"clearly"

to me, it wasn't, for if it was, he wouldn't have been needing to explain things......

Ooh, Paula, I do so agree with you on that one. One (young!) friend (of a friend) of mine puts pics of her 3-yr old daughter on FB every day, with comments such as 'Isn't she lovely', 'my gorgeous Flo***e, etc. and then puts a photo of her sitting on a bench with her legs open, saying how adorable she is.

What??? :-|
