Yes, I have many examples in my tree. The description in the parish registers is sometimes less than flattering. I have seen bastard, base as well as illegitimate used. |

I have some in my tree who were baptised, sometimes with the words 'base born', 'illegitimate child of ****' and some even have 'ba****d' written on the entry. I have seen this on records from Norfolk, Surrey and London so am sure it was a common thing. |
