If you're just trying to kill weeds between the flagstones on a path boiling water does the trick. No need to be spraying poisonous chemicals. We are slowly killing our planet with the use of these chemicals.

Joy sweetie...
Distilled white vinegar teaspoon of salt and a squirt of washing up liquid and spray bottle Bingo!.. Weed killer, works in less than 48 hrs.
(Cheaper than Weedol and non explosive).
xx

Edit: Pretty sure its not harmful to cats/dogs/ birds etc either. (might deter slugs and snails though).

Joy .................

if you still have the pieces, I would take it back and tell them what happened.

They need to know if it is faulty

JoyBoroAngel

JoyBoroAngel Report 8 Aug 2014 22:50

I bought the spray last year the spray and its now in pieces

I used it last week with no problems spraying Strays garden
with the same brand of weed killer

its raining here and even though I swilled the paths last night after it exploded

the path is now foaming nicely and big bubbles are floating on the paving slabs :-D :-D :-D

Andysmum Report 8 Aug 2014 22:45

I agree with Sylvia. Weedol shouldn't explode, and mixing in a sprayer/watering can shouldn't make any difference.

If the sprayer is fairly new, I would take it back (if there are any bits left) - there could have been a faulty batch, and Wilkinsons is a reputable make and won't want adverse publicity like this.

JoyBoroAngel

JoyBoroAngel Report 8 Aug 2014 14:20

dunno I had to swill the paths budgie

and no I never added anything to the mix :-D :-D

Weedkiller has always been popular with the bomb making fraternity though not as good as fertiliser.

Those who fell asleep in school chemistry lessons tend to be more prone to this sort of thing. Why is science so unpopular especially with girls ?

Be careful.

badger Report 8 Aug 2014 07:40

people making up weedkiller of ANY sort are supposed to mix it in a watering can FIRST and then decant into the spray .
Mixing in the sprayer and then shacking it up can ,and sometimes does ,creat a violent reaction.Fred :-(

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 8 Aug 2014 06:30

Could it possibly have been a faulty spray bottle????????????

could you take it back, and tell them what has happened, and see if they can cone to any conclusion?

JoyBoroAngel

JoyBoroAngel Report 8 Aug 2014 03:40

it was weedol 2
in a red packet
and the spray bottle came from Wilkinson's :-0 :-0

Dear Joyous

Hello

You had a very near miss there.
Thank goodness you are okay.

You take good care of yourself.

Lots of good wishes <3
Love Elizabeth,

Andysmum Report 7 Aug 2014 22:24

Joy, what kind of weedkiller was it and what sort of sprayer?

Weedkillers that aren't liquid, like Weedol, tell you that they will mix better with warm water, so I don't think that was the cause.

I have been spraying things for years and have never heard of that happening. I think you were lucky not to have been hurt. :-0 :-0

JoyBoroAngel

JoyBoroAngel Report 7 Aug 2014 21:59

I was drenched in weed killer but ok
I think it was the luke warm water
that caused it so beware

I just thought it would mix easier if I added warm water :-(
