A major incident @ Strangford Lough in County Down

A major incident has been declared at an international boating event on Strangford Lough in County Down.

Belfast Coastguard says approximately 80 sailing dinghies were hit by a sudden squall.

The Bangor and Portaferry Coastguard rescue teams, the Portaferry and Newcastle RNLI lifeboats, the Irish Coast Guard helicopter along with the helicopter from RAF Valley have been sent to the scene.

The latest reports from the BBC say that It is understood up to 100 people ended up in the water - including children :-(

Oh dear I hope there were no fatalities. What a shame when theyw ere all enjoying themselves.

10 people have been injured, most showing signs of hypothermia.

So hopefully everyone will be ok.
