Looking at the last D of Richard on the 1881 census the writer did not close the D so it looks like two letter Ls at the end of Fred. |

Yes I think it's Fred on the 1881 original. The enumerator has a funny way of writing capitol F and also lower case d which he doesn't close up making it look like ll. |

By following the family through the other censuses I had come to the conclusion that it is Fred but I see you're there ahead of me. I'm definitely going to have to speed up a bit |
