Anyone else having a problem? As soon as the home page appears it swops to a free trial and I can't get in.

If you have a UK sub make sure you are going for Ancestry.co.uk and not ancestry.com or you will get this message.

Okay for me but I go in from my bookmarks, I don't know if that makes a difference or not.

Thanks to both - definitely going to .co.uk, was actually thinking of trying .com to see if it would work.

I log into everything as we clear our cookies etc regularly so it easier to keep to one method for everything.

I have emailed Ancestry but will ring them if I don't get a reply soon. It's all very frustrating as my FMP sub has just finished.

Edit: I've just tried the .com and the page is different - the free trial is just an option - .co.uk site is overtaken by a new page.

Yesterday there was a banner saying that work on the site was happening this morning. Might that have something to do with it? It seems OK for me at the moment

I rang ancestry for help - it foxed them a bit. We eventually got me on via some convoluted route which I must try again. They thought it was something to do with my browser but were a bit surprised that it was IE11. Putting it into compatability settings doesn't work for me either.

I shall keep trying over the next few days and then ring them again.

(Note: I have nothing to do with choosing browsers - that is all down to the inhouse expert!! ;-) )

All you need to do when this happens

is to click on the Ancestry logo on the top left hand side of the page and you go to your home page.

Seems to happen all the time lately.

But once you know how to get around it, it is not a problem.

Having just read this thread I logged into Ancestry - no problems for me.

Oh DC - if only it was that easy!

For some reason that is blocked for me, None of the boxes like SIGN, Search etc work - the Ancestry logo on the left doesn't appear properly. So I was given another web address, which take me to my account page after logging in - then I can click on the Ancestry logo on the left which takes me into the right page.

By which time I've forgotten what I wanted to look at :-(

Every time I log on to Ancestry I get a message saying that there is a problem with my e-mail address-click here to rectify it. It is not having any adverse effect so I just ignore it. Bob

much much easier to put it into Your Favourites (or Bookmarks if you're on Firefox) ...........

then you go straight to the home page or Search Page (whichever you have chosen as your "Favourite")

Persuade the inhouse expert that you don't necessarily have to clear cookies every night :-)

Hooray!

I've got the Soldiers in a train back - and the sign in box is working. Yesterday, instead of the train all I got was the message and a very black screen.

Thanks for all the advise. Must remember to make a note of how they told me to get in in case it happens again and the other routes don't work.
:-) :-)

Even though Ancestry is in my bookmarks and I am permanently signed in, I couldn't get on yesterday the site wouldn't recognise my user name, password or email address. I didn't have the time to phone yesterday and today I have got straight in no problems, so perhaps it was something to do with the maintenance work they were doing.
