Sylvia ~

Would you like a dried cane toad? You could use it as an "ornament" in the loo :-D

Back in early 1976, we stayed with the parents of a friend on their farm in Queensland.

As is / was common there, the toilet was in a small separate building outside the house ...............not quite the same as the loo at the bottom oft he backyard in houses in the UK, but still a walk.

OH went late one night, lifted the lid and seat .................... and there was a cane toad staring up at him.

He said he couldn't wait ........................... so he did what came naturally :-)

You can find lots about cane toads if you google (they are horrible, disgusting creatures).

This clip is about Daz........ and his mate Baz :-D

:-D

The local "greenies" tell us toads have to be killed humanely........ they recommend catching them in a plastic bag, then putting them in the freezer! No way am I putting a toad in the freezer with my food. We squirt them with Dettol, they don't like it (the toads, not the greenies).

The greenies don't recommend humane killing for pests like rats, mice or cockroaches!

There are special cane toads for tourists. Dried. Horrible things........ you can get a cane toad playing a guitar, sitting on a toilet, playing football....... all sorts.

:-(

The best coyote repellant does go BANG, but I don't own any of that type, or any other type. I would watch out for those toads if I were you. :-0 they sound dangerous, they could decide to stampede ;-) (I crack myself up sometimes) A toad stampede does sound dangerous though :-0 :-0

Brave ME, no just knew that standing in the road just wasn't going to get me home.

Is your coyote repellant go BANG?

The worst I have to face at night would be possums & cane toads.

Lately the temperature has been in the high 30’s. Yeah yeah I know - Canada the land of snow and igloos. Anyway, it has been to hot to go out for my sometimes daily walk/hike so I have been going out at night.
So about a couple of days ago I went out around 9 pm, really quite cool then, it was getting dark and I did forget my flashlight, but I knew where I was going so there was no problem, there aren’t any streetlights either so I put on my reflective vest for the cars, and off I went. I got to French Rd. and turned around and headed back home. Just as I was turning round the coyotes started howling behind me! As I kept walking I checked over my shoulder to check they had not started down the road after me. As I faced forward again one started howling in the field beside me, he must have been in the electricity plant yard. Okay, so he was howling and the ones behind me were answering back, so I start walking a little faster, to get back to the safety of the houses - all 20 of them. I guess the one beside me told the others I was leaving because they stopped howling and didn’t peruse the matter any further. Coyotes are mean when they hunt in packs and obviously it was a pack maybe 3 or 4 of them.
Although it was kind of scary it was also rather ‘nifty’ too
So although at 9 pm it is cooler I no longer go out then. If I can, I go during the day but usually it is to hot so I go at 7 pm when the sun is still up.
The mortal of this story: It is not reccommed to go out, in the dark, without your flashlight or coyote repellent.
