You need to buy credits on Scotlands people, 30 Credits cost £7, one credit to view search results and 5 credits to view an individual record which you can then download and save at no extra cost.

BUT

Civil Registration began in Scotland in 1855 so before that date you need parish records.

Births within the last 100 years can not be viewed online, nor marriages within 75 years or deaths within 50 years

Images for the Scottish census are on SP but transcriptions are available on other sites
