Well Scotland Invented Television, I'm sure they can manage the Weather.

Try this for size;

But surely if the area covered by Scotland is larger than any other country in the UK then the actual population size is immaterial when it comes to forecasting the conditions in various widespread locations? What matters is that each geographic area gets a good indication of what is likely to happen to them.

They'll have to keep all of the map as, alfter all, we're part of an island and weather doesn't stop at a man made border!

Watching the lunch time weather on BBC, although Belfast was marked, Dublin wasn't. It would probably be the same for Edinburgh, Glasgow etc.

And if we vote No can we still keep our 10%.

If I need to know anything about the weather I
look out the window :-)

I do hope so.

When Smiley Carol Kirkwood does the weather on BBC she usually mentions "Scotlind" at least eight times.....! Given that the population of Scotland is less than 10% of the UK I think that is very biased.

And yes to the licence fee issue too. They can keep their 10%.

The number of households in Scotland has been increasing by an average of about 18,000 per year since 2001. In 2010 there were 2.36 million households in Scotland, an average annual rise of about 0.8%.

The question is, on the basis every household in Scotland at the moment is paying their licence fee, can the BBC afford to lose that number of licence fee payers?

Scotland does its own weather forecast anyway, at the end of the national news, and very good it is too.

I forecast heartache when it is broadcast using Scottish Gaelic

if Scotland vote yes it would be a big mistake
so if they vote yes let them do their own weather forecast ;-) ;-)

Dermot

Dermot Report 21 Aug 2014 11:36

In Ireland, the weather forecast is often determined by the general public based on the intensity or otherwise of rheumatic aches & pains.

Very unscientific but surprisingly accurate.

If Scotland vote "Yes" d'you think the BBC TV will cut them out of the weather forecast as they do with Eire?
